Snare, what is this law about posting with your real name if you are a doctor? What country imposes this?

Should I allow my mom to see the grandchildren?
by confusedandalone inso i am not officially da/do yet and my family has shunned me hard.
today crying my mother calls me to beg to see my children... should i let her?
i feel that if you can speak abusive of your own son and wife and shun the.

I would say "Sure, you're welcome to come over to dinner with us and see the kids."
You aren't telling her no, you're inviting your mom to see the family. If she says no, that's on her. When she cries, tell her you love her and she is welcome into your life anytime she chooses.

I am not obliged to respond to every comment. I have ignored comments that were just rude or meaningless. I have ignored comments that are simply trying to draw out responses that can be misused.
Of course you aren't, but I have noticed that you have started completely ignoring my responses which point out clearly the logical inconsistency of your arguments and the logical conclusion if your process of decision making was used.
Of course, I won't stop responding to your comments, because this isn't for you.

And if I were to form an opinion of what Simon is like as a person simply from the limited actions I have observed during this discussion I might reach certain conclusions. Would I be right?
Possibly, although opinions aren't facts, so you may form the opinion that he is a unicorn and that could have no bearing on reality.
What, though, does that have to do with anything?

These statements are not "silly word games" Cofty. Neither is it "pretend". This is reality my friend, and unless you acknowledge that you will continue with your illogical conclusions.
So, how is it logical to make a decision based the possibility an unknown ungraspable unknown, information that, even if we knew existed, we couldn't understand?
You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. On the one hand, you accurately show that there is information we don't know that we don't know. OTOH, you say we should wait to know if there is information we don't know (with the added quality of not being able to understand it if we did know it existed) and wait until then to make a decision, ignoring possibility that there could be infitinte unknown unknowns that we could never discover.

That's a fair point, but if you did have a choice between not existing, or playing your part in this universe, what would you choose?
That question doesn't make sense. You can't make that choice until AFTER you exist....
Anyone who questions things and deals realistically with uncertainty and probability I can listen to. Hence why I jumped into this conversation to challenge Cofty's certainty. It's not that I begrudge anyone their personal certainty based upon the balance of probability, but just don't try to tell me it's a logical certainty if it isn't.
Escept you only get halfway there and then reverse yourself. Of course no one knows everything. No one has claimed to know everything, but you are suggesting that we should not make decisions until we know if there is an unknown ugraspable unknow that, even if we knew it existed, couldn't help us decide because by your definition, it's ungraspable.
You get the first part of the logic right, then fall down on the second half. Wouldn't it be more reasonable to make a decision when we reach what is, as far as it is in our power to figure out, when we have reached the highest known state of quality of information that we think we can know?
Idon'tknowbecauseIdon'thavehisknowledge
That's not a logical certainty, just a posibility.
"logically if I had access to the same information as the all loving omniscient God and if I was going to act in the long-term interests of all humanity then I would act the same way as he did".
Why would you act the same way? Would you not have free will? And isn't that statement going directly against what you said earlier? You seem to be saying for a certainty that God has more information, as you said, we can't know that for sure.

Remember, we are NOT talking about probability here. We are ONLY talking about what we know for a certainty.
Technically, we know nothing for a certainty, so your argument is just as valid to say that Pol Pot could actually have been a great guy with good reasons.
Are you making that argument? If not, I wonder how you would avoid it since there could be things we don't know that make his actions seem reasonable according to you.

Acknowledging that there are missing pieces to a puzzle does not make the entire thing a mystery. If it did we would have to write-off some very important areas of human knowledge.
No one claimed it did. However, the specific component that was the topic of this conversation IS a mystery and it's good to see you acknowledging that's what you've been saying all along.
It's a mystery.

My whole argument is that there is no logical reason to reach the conclusion that Cofty is promoting based upon appearances. I therefore phrased my reply accordingly.
That is logically invalid since the information you allege may exist is something we couldn't understand even if there was a way we could find out if it existed!

Sounds like you don't like a conversation where you can't bully people, Adamah. I warned you there were people here just as smart as you that you couldn't push around or bamboozle with walls of text like Tec tried to do.
