ColdSteel, no matter how you turn it, you are left with God being an impotent monster killing for pleasure or a potent monster killing for pleasure.
Why in the world would you worship someone that loves so much killing?
i really can't wrap my head around how people can still consider god loving with such atrocious biblical accounts such as, 1 samuel 15, (god ordering the slaughter of amelikite baby's and children) 2nd kings 2, forgot the verses (god sending bears to maul 42 children) and many others.have you ever asked a witness or anyone elsewhat they think about these accounts?
what was their response?
i'd love to ask one, but unfortunately i'm still physically in the cult and i wouldn't want to raise any suspicions.

i've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?
Perhaps one should widen their perspective with regard to their questions.
The question is wide open. Can you tell us what spirit is comprised of? So far we are no closer to an answer.
A fundamental question remains with regard to the OP, is spirit defined as a discrete entity or as a part of human existence?
Pick one. So far no one has had an answer for either except as a metaphor for something else.
i've always wondered that.

You thought I was being snippy? Oh dear, I'm so sorry you didn't understand. I was just telling you that polite people have boundaries and you should respect them instead of flailing around trying to be a clever house mother and busybody. You should try it sometime. Now, for instance.
i've always wondered that.

FHN, despite your advanced age, you are not my mother and ignorant of me. Please do try to resist the urge be be a nosey busybody and mind your own business. Mine is none of yours.
i've always wondered that.

As it stands, we are no closer to knowing what spirit is comprised of. It seems, at least on this forum, to be an unaswerable question. Many have claimed to know the answer, yet none has been provided.
i've always wondered that.

Yeah, you probably do need a few drinks.

Don't speak that way of your cohorts, FHN. It's not as if you've fared any better.

I did ask and the question was dismissed and/or ignored as irrelevant. Please be consistent in your questioning and answers.
Show me specifically where I said I wasn't interested? You should note that "not being interested" is wildly different from attempting to use that as anaswer to a specific question.
I made nothing up. I did ask a couple pages ago which definition of spirit was relevant here and was ignored, again.
Which has nothing to do with hard evidence. You're still wide of the mark and trying to conflate unrelated items to build a false narrative.
I beg to differ that it has no meaning. Philosophy has meaning, and is as intangible as it's subject. That's the point I and others try to make that you dismiss.
Philosophy does have meaning and that's not at all what I dismissed. You're still conflating unrelated items.
We are still no closer to an answer.

However I doubt the OP is interested in the idea and philosophy of the word spirit, based on responses to questions posed on this subject.
You could always ask rather than assume.
Only hard evidence proving the existence of discrete spirit beings is allowed.
That's never been said by anyone. Please don't make things up.
That a dictionary defines one aspect of spirit as the immaterial nature of a person's existence doesn't seem to qualify as an answer.
That simply replaces one term with no meaning with another with no meaning. It does nothing to get us closer to an answer.
i've always wondered that.

I think the origin of SPIRIT as a part of ourselves, comes from the Greek philosophers.
Hmmm.... that's a good research topic. I would have thought it to be earlier than that.
The word is not the thing.
Gravity existed before we had a word for it.
Good point.
