To simply dismiss a claim as "irrelevant", would be (for the third time now) an argumentum ad lapidem. It would also be rude, and dishonest if a person knew what they were doing... Because, I dunno, someone had told them, more than once, in this very thread.

So, where are we? No one can define god in a way that doesn't make their god either irrelevant or an asshole unworthy of worship. Asking people who make ridiculous claims to prove those claims is proper. FMF has the name "pumpkin" for me all to himself. Atheism is simly a lack of belief in god, gods, godesses or the supernatural. There are both strong and weak versions of atheism.

If authority is needed when asking people on an online forum to support their claims about reality, where exactly are you getting yours from, pumpkin?

Well, first, I'm not "pumpkin". Your attempt to use subtle misogyny to minimize and belittle me was not unnoticed and frankly, is cheap and foolish.

Secondly, your comment that I addresse was about requesting people to calm down their claims, not about whether or not it's proper to ask for support for a claim made. Those, you see, are different things.

BTW, it is entirely proper to ask someone to support their claims.

Once they have "done their best" and posited a silent or absent god, dismissal as "assholegod" or "pointlessgod", is no real response at all. Certainly no disproof.
Doesn't even seem to be trying all that hard to even look like a real reply...

It's an apt description of their deity. If you don't like that, well, as I said, try making a point next time.

Dismissing a god as an asshole is also no disproof. Sounds awkwardly like an appeal to emotion (It is after all the only reason offered - and if it is in fact the reason for dismissal - ISan appeal to emotion.).

An appeal to emotion? Perhaps you should understand what "making a point" is before you go all in and try to make one. You certainly aren't capable of building a cogent argument if this is what you are going with. Making a point is, at this point, a long way off lofty goal for you.

But as I said, this could be avoided simply by providing a justification of your dismissal, it wouldn't even need to be a good one. After all - it is you asking people to define their god. It is just dishonest to then respond as you are doing.
