Nice Old Dears Tried to "Witness" to me Today

an older man and wife - ray and mary - got chatting to me today.

they were tourists admiring local wildlife.

i gave them a few tips on where to go to see some interesting things and it wasn't long before they were telling me about how awful the world is "nowadays" and paradise yadda yadda.

Does Good exist?

atheists, deists, or believer.....basic philosophic ground .

either good exist, or has never been, or is dead.

those are he the three basic premises that we all humans must take a stand to.

God (each has his or her own take on the definition ) indeed does exist in the capability of the human brain to formulate the concept. This is by way of many reasons eg indoctrination from a young age, being part of a cohesive group, fear of punishment or death, comfort by means of reward for capitulating to the demands of your god as outlined by other human beings to whom you cede responsibility for your life because they have told you they are qualified to do so.

In ancient times without the knowledge at our fingertips , and reasoning which we have by way of scientific evidence it is understandable that people would believe in 'gods ' as an explanation of the as yet unexplainable especially as demanded by the powerful who could use the concept of god to their advantage, however in our enlightened contemporary time imo to believe in the existence of God outwith that which exists in the electrical neurological mechanics of the human brain is an insult to ones intelligence and intellectual ability.

First President Of The Watchtower Society

i was reading on wikipedia about the watchtower society and it lists a william henry conley as the first president of the wt society (1881-1884).

i was wonder if this is correct and why the modern jw's have eliminated him from the societies history?

the only thing is the society was not incorporated till 1884 with russel as president.

Women going topless in NYC.

within the past couple of days, women in nyc are going around topless in public.

i read in a news article, that in new york city, there are no laws against women going topless in public.the article says that family people are getting offended and they want to stop topless women in public.

in europe women show their breasts on on tv, the beach, and breast feeding in public.

The trouble with this is, after returning from a lake holiday in Italy I notice most guys (and some ladies ) are swimming preferring to use the ' breast stroke ' lol!!!

The very idea that they have been called in front of the ' worlds ' court to answer to the ' system ' which as they see it is under the control of satan , must be twistin' their gizzards . They writhe at the fact that they are not calling the shots, as the op points out what an opportunity for people who believe they are jehovahs true organisation to give a witness to the world ( is that not what they are commanded to do ?) Instead they hope this inquiry slips beneath the radar as a squirming dog crawls on its belly out of sight.

Why I have renounced Atheism and become a believer again

i have always said that if a god showed itself i would follow the evidence and renounce my atheism.

i have now seen enough to start believing again, i am so happy, i feel a inner contentment, when he connected with me i really knew it was him.

if you are not a believer you will not understand this, but trust me, look at the evidence, open your heart to him, let him in and your life will change for the better.

The human brain has the ability to allow God (of your choosing) to show himself. Wishing or indeed needing the existence of a God does not mean that God exists in reality,distinguished from the reality of existing in the mind (brain) of the person who requires this area of comfort. Consider that any evidence or reason you have for your belief in God was formulated in the Neuro mechanics of your physical brain.

Rodney Spinks' Performance

it seems like there has not been as much discussion here about the rc testimony on day 6 (4th august) as there has been about previous days.

i was quite surprised by rodney spinks' testimony, which was a marked contrast to the bungling and inarticulate testimony of the elders that appeared before him.

spinks seemed reasonably co-operative, and a lot more willing to concede points than anyone else has been.

Spinks made murmurings to the commission that certain aspects of jw judicial procedure may be reviewed but in no uncertain tems outlined their belief that worldly government is in their opinion temporary and that the gb aka fds interpretation of scripure will prevail imo to the detrement of victims . Their excuse for the present judicial set up is based on their interpretation of scripture is it not ? My question, what will they change will they be forced under duress or will they put up a fight. He already cited examples of jws going to prison rather than capitulate.

Spinks has unequivocally told the jws that in the face of scientific evidence or methods or procedures with regard to child abuse which can give help and justice to victims, if it is deemed contrary to the gb aka fds interpretation of scripture ( at this time as there is precedent that they have altered their understanding of Scripture by way of ' new light ' usually as a result of being in a tight corner ) they could still suffer harm as a result ! Oh how loving and caring of them ie protect the organisation at all cost first innocent children second.
