In a nutshell, what is the wackiest jw thing?
by stuckinarut2 inwhat is the wackiest...strangest....most unusual jw teaching or practice?

Question_Mans_interpretation
The whole 1914 thing is so wacky to me and secondly the whole 2300 day period from the Daniel book that they try and apply literally to Rutherfords imprisonment. -

New to all of this
by Ghiagirl ini was raised in the truth my whole life, my immediate family are jws and my moms mom is a witness as well as my fathers mom.
other than that the rest of my family are non jws.
i was raised very balanced, my parents never forced the truth on me or my siblings like most of my friends parents did getting baptized at ridiculous ages!

Welcome to the forum. You are spot on in your assessment of the them, it's all show and no love. I was raised in a fairly strict jw family, got baptized at 16 and didn't start questioning things till a few years ago. I had a difficult time wirh the congregation when I was dating my husband too. We were 18/19 when we first started seeing each other and many didn't like it because he was newly studying and only an unbaptized publisher. Anyways I was prevented from pioneering(blessing in disguise) because he wasn't baptized and yet he had tried to get baptized and had even started going over questions but the elders stopped him in the middle of it because he was dating me. Talk about a catch 22, it was such a horrible time. It didn't push us away but it certainly didn't endear us with the organization. He eventually got baptized and we got married at 19/20. Now we've been married 12 years and have exited together as a family. Best thing ever. -

Why attack?
by newqatarjob inas someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

Whenindoubt, after reading all your posts, i must say you come off as a rambling fool. Magnum made very valid points. Maybe you should reread his posts and come up with logical rebuttals.......if you can. Then maybe we can take you seriously -

Help needed: Written material regarding shunning of DF'd and DA'd individuals
by EdenOne ini would like this to become a permanent thread, because i think there are grounds - at least in europe - to take this matter up to the european court of human rights.
not sure we'll ever get there, but one must start somewhere.
objective: force, by legal means, the watchtower society and the jehovah's witnesses to stop the practice of shunning ex-jehovah's witnesses, on grounds that it constitutes a violation of human rights.. what is needed: all written material ever published by the watchtower society, especially since 1940's, concerning the practice of shunning.

Any Mormons on here who can elaborate? The witnesses will disfellowship members who associate with ones who have been DF'd -

Also she said they don't discipline by shunning those who do associate with a shunned member. -

Jehovahs witnesses have a much different shunning policy then some other religions. I talked to a Mormon at a birthday party last year and she admitted they practice shunning but it's not a complete shut out apparently, or so she claimed. She said they are stilled allowed to associate but didn't elaborate how.
