I’m considering going to this year’s memorial. I’ve only been once, however this was years ago and I can’t remember everything – I have a few questions.
Do they read from a bible during the service?
Is there a scriptural reason for attending/celebrating?
Is this about Passover or what?
Why does the average Jehovah’s Witness attend anyway? -

Why are angels always white?
by slimboyfat inin pictures of conventions or the new system they tend to show a mixture of races, but the angels always seem to be white.

White light encompasses all colours, and is thus not a colour.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are five primary colours in humans, Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, White. I see no reason why they should not also depict angles having these race/colour characteristics.
"Let there be light"... not white! -

Death, is death our only destiny?
by Blueblades insoon after we arrive on this earth, we become aware of the most fundamental fact of our existence, that we won't be here very long.
an average life span lasts less than 30,000 days.
we sleep a third of that time, so the days we experience number less than 20,000. we may try, but we can't ever completely deny our mortality.

To me, the more curious thought is WHY are so many souls coming to the Earth in inhabit bodies. Why do they continually reincarnate/resurrect if you will?
From one perspective it seems Jesus failed. The mission was to bring people back to God, and yet increasing numbers flock to the Earth like it's a life preserver. Good heavens what is going on in the spiritual realm that so many souls should want to live here!? Is the afterlife such a sorry place to be and the Earth so tempting as place to be (as Genesis indicated)?
I would like to be privy to the discussions/thoughts or those planning the next rescue effort. The rescue to make mankind realize there is so much more to the Universe. A rescue attempt that does not attempt to change our free will, but rather help us use our free will to the betterment of ourselves and neighbour.
I honestly think Jesus the man and Christ the soul underestimated his fellow soul, or at least underestimated the lure this earthly existence has on us. -

Death is an act of mercy by God. If it were up to us, we would live on the Earth forever... and eternally disconnected from our Maker. As times goes on, year in, year out, generation-by-generation, we are indeed becoming increasing lost.
Death is actually the PLAN for humans. Death brings us back to our true place. When Jesus said don't store up treasures on Earth, but in Heaven, why do you think this was so? Well, pardon the obvious, but it's because the Earth just isn’t that important in the grand scheme of things. Earth, a mere speck in a Galaxy which in turn is a mere mote in the Universe… and humans self importance – bigger than the lot of it… and then some!
Jehovah’s' Witnesses spend all their time planning to do something Jesus himself never attempted, nor aspired too. Live forever on the Earth. "Fools!" I say.
Your average Jehovah's Witness would have better chances performing faith-based miracles curing the sick and injured (something Jesus said not to marvel at), than to live forever.
Wake up peoples - dying is actually part of the plan! -

The Lord's prayer, why JW's never say it
by moomanchu inwe all know it's not an issue if people say the lord's prayer or not, but except for the fact that jw's make it an issue.
to them it's kinda like the boogie man and to say it makes you part of christendom, ripe for destruction.. this thread is in response to another thread.i finally took some time to look into information to make a reply.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/130602/2.ashx.
a jw commented on that thread.

Before contemplating the star of Bethlehem, you must first ask yourself – what is a Star? Surprisingly few people question this. They don’t think it’s important, but yet there is great controversy about what our own star actually is. Do stars stand alone in isolation from their galactic neighbours, or are they part of an invisible network all connected in some manner that is imperceptible to us at present? Don’t be surprised if our own Star’s energy level fluctuates as it traverses deep space. The polar ice caps on Mars are melting at the same rate as the Earth’s and not a single cow fart on Mars! Global warming or global ignorance?

Know of a commentary on Revelation BETTER than the Rev Climax book?
by M.J. inknow of a good commentary/analysis of revelation?
a reference that's faithful to the concept of exegesis rather than eisegesis*?.
a good antidote to the revelation climax book currently being studied by jws?.

Yes.
Revelation is about the individual soul... it's about you. It's not about anyone else really. It's about the struggle that occurs when spiritual ideals are out of sync with material needs and desires. Considering the rest of the bible, should this come as a surprise? No.
Revelation must be deciphered in the language in which it was originally written... in the spirit. A langugage dead to us at present and thus useless. One soul did translate it for us whilst in a trance-like state. To my knowledege he is the only one in history to have ever translated it. Although my grasp of history is somewhat minimal, I personally believe the narrow path is very narrow indeed.
If you want the truth, you'll need to dismiss the crap you've been taught. Dismissing something you hold dear to your heart, that you have enjoyed teaching other people, that you have woven into the fabric of your being thread by thread, year by year is almost impossible to let go of. If this is you, you'll outright dismiss the truth even when you ask for it. You won't even see it.
I know better than to point a JW or even an ex-JW towards Truth. From my experience they don't want to know it unless it's a thread that can be woven neatly into their current beliefs.
Suffice to say, the best answer I can give you, is not a hyperlink that explains the real truth (because you will not see it), but the advice that Jesus himself offered. Knock and the door will be opened. After 20 years of learning myself and trying to teach others, this really is the best advice I can offer. My own teacher never sought students. I found him.
If I thought you wanted a teacher, I would teach... but only as your friend... a companion. The internet can be such an impersonable medium, that I have found teaching via it limiting and inferior... however for self-study (knocking and looking), it's wonderful. -

Ridiculous teenager counselled at Assembly.
by Duncan inthe ridiculous teenager is me.
this story takes me back to 1969, when i was 15 years old.
we were attending the international assembly at wembley stadium, near london, the only time, i think, that wembley was ever used for an assembly.. if youve ever read any of the stories i posted on jwd over the years, youll know that i was never one of those kids growing up in the truth who always had doubts about it or was unhappy and miserable with the religion, just waiting for the chance to get out.

Thank you for that wonderfully story. Your writing style really took me there! I could just picture you so well.
What a gut-wrentching story! You just trying to be good, and then to be smacked over the ego with such blunt force! Oh dear. How terrible. I really felt for you.
To not know, but do the best as is known, felt, experienced in self, to him it is counted as righteousness.
