inclement weather ?
i remember having to wait until just about the last minute to call my bookstudy to tell them whether or not a meeting was being held or not.
and these poor people hoping to enjoy a legitimate meeting off would be told by the elders whether they were expected to go or not.

One spring the whole house came down with a yucky flu that wiped us out for a week. We were never missers, and certainly my mom was there every meeting with at least one of us kids. Well, after we were out for the second book study, someone finally called to see what had happened to us, and my mom was so pissed it took 'em that long to miss us, she kept us home for a month. I loved that month.
I certainly can relate to that and I don't blame her I might have done the same thing.

Yes, this is a great place! I know that the love and concern (not) has gotten to me as well as a lot of people I knew when I was.
Yea, love and concern my a**, all they do is get close to you, acting like the love you, just so they can take the newly found info and run with it. They love to gossip!!! That is one of my main reasons that I just can't stay, they are too much of hypocrites.
One question to eveyone here though, what is this generation thing your talking about, I never heard of it.I don't know how to hook- you - up with a link I think would help with the info on the new light about the generation. It would explain better than me. Maybe you can start a post like you did for the question you had posted about 1975. I'm sure you will get quite a few links that way. BTW Welcome to the board!

its been awhile since i've posted, i thought i'll drop in and say hello too all the newbies, but i've been reading the posts ocassionally and they have been encouraging to see people take the courage to change from the jw mindset and try too move on with there life.
for those of you who don't know me i disassociated myself from the wt in june of 1999 with a big smile, have not looked back since.
my wife was still going at the time with my two kids, this weekend was her convention to my surprise, she did go nor has she attended any meetings in the past six months, since we moved away from my loving mother in law who is still a devout jw, that just bring tears to my eyes, tears of joy cause she can't speak to me, that's a plus, lol.

I had good reason to miss meetings once, because of a serious accident and they tried to drop- kick me into going to the hall. But , I said I am not going, because I am in to much pain!
ok, i've known for a long time now that this is not "the one true religion", but i can't for the life of me, seem to make the final break.
i seldom go to meetings and am usually bored out of my mind when i do go, but for the life of me, after i've missed about 3 or 4 weeks i start feeling guilty about "missing meetings" and i'll go.
i'm really frustrated and angry with myself that i can't make the break, but in all honesty, there's still some people at the hall that i care about and i guess i'd miss them if i left completely.

It's just that some people that I really care about still go, and I'd be really hard not to see them any more.............
That is why I stayed as long as I did. I had some people that I really cared about and I still think of them from time to time and
remember the good times . And remember, the people here care about you a lot, and I look forward to getting to know you it sounds like you are a sweet heart.

It has been years since I have been to a hall.
The more I didn't go the easier it became and the quilt lessened as time passed. Now I don't feel qulity at all.

Add to that that their mind control tactics get tiring / ridiculous, it is time to leave.
Especially when it happens over decades , and they act like the controling behavior is showing you love !
