Raised as JW (3rd generation) been free of the cult for nearly 20 years now and couldn't be happier! I drink, I swear, I smoke, I sometimes get stoned, I practise yoga and I engage in pre-marital sex! Most of all I think for myself!!!

Lived through the 1974 run-up hype/debacle to 1975.as a young person. Originally from South Florida--Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood. Not raised in the Borg, but more exposed to it than not. Baptized at 14, drifted away, went back at 18, married at 20, rocky standing on and off, then got "serious." M.S. then elder, finally wised up and left it all behind in 1997. The marriage and the borg were a package deal (too bad, because my ex is a great person). Went back to school and got 3 degrees and now have a normal, relatively successful life. Just playing catch-up all the time because of the wasted years.

Mom, step-father and brother all baptized years before me--Baptized and married young--regular pioneered and endured physically abusive marriage with JW husband for almost 7 years--offered to disassociate myself after filing for divorce but was disfellowshipped instead--uncertain as to the reason, but I told them that I wanted no part of an organization that insisted I either stay with a mentally ill man who was threatening to kill me or remain single until I could prove he had sexual relations with someone else. Been out more than 20 years and VERY HAPPY NOW: married to a wonderful man, have a fullfilling job and a wide circle of friends from every walk of life.

Researching and writing on WTS since 1964. I have never been a JW but wanted to discover why they were able to completely ignore facts that proved the organization was in gross error.
