A friend of mine had a Dell Projector talk given at his KH. Anyone Else had this yet? Any way according to him it was all about the Org and translating the Bible into other languages. The emphasis being on the need to get volunteers for the foriegn language fields, that is where all the growth is!

Ironically, Malawi, and Mexico were prominently featured. So was the Bogota Columbia book fair and the JW.ORG booth! They gave away a free bible to a man at the book fair! He was so impressed because other booths were charging over $100.00 for a bible!

Also, the volunteers at the Branches in 3rd World countries like Africa, were living in a virtual paradise compared to the natives. The film featured a huge truck load of literature being delivered. Can you imagine if it contained food? It was also interesting to hear that the Brothers translating the literature into their native language faced the challenge of doing so without... Internet access!

If you want to serve where the need is greater, just volunteer. The GB appreciate your help in this never to be repeated life-saving work sooooo much! So much that they will not:

    1) Sponsor you in any way.

    2) Not help you legally in any way.

    3) Not help you with transportation in any way.

    4) Not help you with finding a place to live in any way.

    5) Not help you in any way.

    6) Will accept any money that you can give.

It was also emphasized how everyone, no matter who they are in the Org, " gets the chance to contribute money." The amount does not matter, there are no rules about it, just make it regular! Wow, someone should have told our Elder Body this. They just told us to give on a regular basis, maybe..umm..$20?!? Glad to know we don't have all kinds of rules.

I will check the notes sent to me and see if there is anything else of interest. So, in review.. Countries with no internet access is where the Organization is focusing it's efforts to preach. They need volunteers and money for this all important life-saving search and rescue operation. They will not help you in any way shape or form. They will accept cash.

We got this at our hall a few weeks ago during the CO visit. It truly reminded me of a North Korea Propaganda film. All the points your friend brought out were true at mine too.

I think the purpose was twofold.

    1. To try to get Dubs active in lands with the only real growth, dirt poor and no internet access to expose the fraud, and desperate to have a decent life one day,

    2. To reinforce in the average JW mind, "this really is the truth!" "How else could this translation work be done if it wasnt for Jehovah and his angels!" "no mere men could do this". And Boy! I have got to do more. If these friends can give all that up, Surely I can go out on at least two sundays a month after the meeting!

Meanwhile I am sitting there thinking, well man was able to build the pyramids, the eifell tower, the Empire states building, and have multinational corporations and organizations, all without Gods help. How is this any different!

Also the CO talk after this was all GUILT GUILT GUILT, DO MORE, DO MORE, DO MORE!!

    Data:

I might have an audio recording of the DVD presentation. I had video capability on me but from my location in the hall it wasn't feasible to get a good line of sight on the projector screen.

I haven't downloaded the file yet to my computer, so I'll have to see if I got a good recording. I was going to record the CO's service talk after the WT study too, but my little device apparently ran out of battery power and kept turning itself off. This is why I'm not sure if I got a good recording of the DVD sound.

At any rate, the service talk after the WT study was about personal application of what the DVD was talking about.

Incidentally, Geoffrey Jackson was interviewed on the DVD about his translating efforts in Tahiti. There was some discussion about him and the experience of a 15 year old in the Jeremiah book here. (See my post # 827)

    Take Care
