were you more afraid of the elders or their wives?

    Just wondering,
Who had the power in your congregation? In mine it was always the elders wives. If you got on their bad side, watch out! Just wondering if it was the same in other areas.

    Peace and love to all,

In my congregation, one elder's wife ruled her family and others. But mostly the crotchety old men err elders ordered everyone else around.

In the Wichita, KS congregation I came from?

The men were the heads of the households. Their wives were the necks that turned the heads.

    Haha!

If the Elder's wife bent you over her knees for being bad, then that should tell you something.

    Andi,
How funny. I went to a couple of DC's in Wichita years back. My stepmothers family are from the Pittsburg MO area. Small world huh.

    Jayhawk,
I haven't been in that neck of the woods in years, but I'll keep the invite in mind. Everyone I know in that area are JW's and let's just say I'm not the most liked person in that circle. It's really too bad because I really liked most of them.

    Billygoat,
Duh, I meant Pittsburg KS, not MO. It's down near Joplin.

    Peace,

Interesting. It just dawned on me that my mom IS an elders wife. I never really thought about it much, since she became his wife AFTER he dissed fellow shippedmeout 24 years ago (8/7/77). She married him about two years later.

It is an intriging question. I wonder how she DOES treat thosein her cong. The very cong she was once new in. Yet, since she once again cannot speak to me because I am "very apostate", I suppose I'll never know. Oh wait! I haven't been back to my hometown in a long time. Perhaps a visit to my old cong is IN ORDER. Wonder how I could find out just how she is as an "elders wife".

Thank you for this post. Much food for thought here.

Sincerely, sKally "VERY APOSTATE" klass(straight from the horses mouth too)bwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hey Jonjonsimons, Don't feel bad, I am not liked in JW circles either. I guess that happens when you tell them the truth about theirselves. I didn't figure you were still here, I don't blame you, but you are welcome at my house anytime.
