Depends on how literally someone interprets "just as the days of Noah were..." Noah preached for 120 years before the flood. But, as has been noted, his recorded lifespan was a great deal longer than ours, also.
There is no connection between the two, but it is another way for the hopeful to maintain some "reason" [excuse] to hope. AuldSoul
If the WBTS is smart they'll stop publishing dates entirely. That way they'll be correct if they can pin these rumored dated on the rank and file.

QED, they will never stop.
QED, they will never stop.
You're right, Nathan.
They need to keep the fear of Armaghedon going, and what better way, than to set another date.

That year is based on a recent watchtower which, within a few paragraphs, insinuated that there was a parallel between the number of years relating to Noah and the flood and the number of years in this system from 1914. Therefore, add 120 to 1914 and you get 2034 as a hinted date for the big A. They worded it very carefully though.
The only reason they would print this, in my opinion, is because they know that the average JW is looking for something - anything - from the GB that the big A is near. The GB will know that they will put two and two together. Plus, why not provide a date which is in the future but not *too* far away for them to stop attending?
Someone can probably post a link to it...there are scans online.

it could possibly be a seed they planted for if armageddon doesn't come within 20 years, they can point out that they already laid a foundation for the date so far in advance.
"as far back as the late 20th century, jehovah's witnesses have pointed to the date 2034 as the 120'th year of preaching... just as the days of noah were."

More carrots.
Do more until '34 will be the new chant.
nice! so now they are using the totally flimsy account of noah and a global deluge that never happened to insinuate dates? what a bunch of morons. the noah account is one of the most torn apart accounts in critical scripture exegesis, not to mention the gross scientific inaccuracies.
keep it up GB! you're doing a fine job!
