Michael Graham, one of five elders at the Davenport Kingdom Hall, declined to divulge the exact reason for the disfellowshipping, only to note that Joel Jahn refused to participate in the judicial committee's meetings. "The shunning is his choice, not ours," said Graham, who was baptized a Witness in 1973. "He's the one who walked down this path with his eyes wide open."

You have got to be kidding me Michael Graham. Joel Jahn was disfellowshipped for daring to disagree with the WT. He refused to attend the judicial meeting because the die was already cast. To attend this farce would have served no purpose.

So, Michael Graham, Joel Jahn's sin was to grow his own brain and find out that the things that the WT was teaching him was wrong. When he discovered this fact and dared to share this with others then the WT police went into action. No one dares defy the self appointed FDS and gets away with it.

You claim Michael Graham, that you have freedom of speech and that your religion has fought to ensure freedom of speech, but you deny that same inalienable right towards members of your own religion. This issue is simply about the right of individuals to use their God given brains to examine the Bible and make a decision about how they are going to react to it without being coerced or threatened to accept the WT's line of reasoning or else face shunning.

You and your WT God Michael Graham are the ones that have gone down this path with your eyes wide open. You are the ones that have denied freedom of speech to your members. You and your religion, with your eyes wide open, have decided that you have the right to destroy family ties. You and your religion, with your eyes wide open, have decided to shun those that simply disagree with how the Bible should be interpreted and then you slanderously accuse those that dare to disagree with you as sinners. Thus, the members of the congregation thinks that the "offender" has truly committed a sin.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself, but doubtless, you are proud of yourself. I hope that more and more people will find out about the fraud that the WT has perpetrated and will free themselves of the WT's shackles.

If anyone would like to contact the Davenport Congregation elders, I'm sure I can provide addresses - just PM me (this is a very, very, very small town - addresses are easy to come by). Mrs Rocky2

    great article !

its just one layer of the onion though, i'm not df'd but i'm " marked" and shunned by my own children and family. calls arent answered..if i corner a family member i'm told " if you want to talk to us you know what you need to do" and thats about it.

the shunning is a painful family breaking practice and its horrible. theres nothing i can find about Jesus in the bible that would justify any religion backing this practice, let alone the religion that says its the ONLY religion that God himself backs .

He did this to himself??? Is that what the elder said?? Oh, the children molested themselves too, right?? I don't believe in God anymore, but if I did, I'd pray that the building where they have the elders meetings would be hit by an earthquake. These men are worthless scum. I will bide my time until my book is finished. I'm going to name names, addresses, phone numbers, the works. We outnumber these animals one thousand to one, and we have, know, and use the Internet far better than they do. Those idiots don't even have email since they know they'd be bombarded every day. Can you picture Jesus cursing at someone who went to Caesar and reported a case of child abuse in the congregation and demanding he be expelled from the temple and all that this entailed? I don't think so. I don't want to be a JW when this hits the fan. I've seen the JW apologists on Silent Lambs. What a bunch of sickos. But we have to remember the kind of brain we are dealing with. JW's would have made excellent SS guards in Nazi Germany and then claim that they were just following orders or didn't know what was happening in the death camps. We all just need to keep emailing our friends, telling our neighbors, etc. Eventually, the word will get out. We have might and right on our side. Good luck and best wishes to all.

Linda, nice to see you in the photo! Have your folks heard about it yet? I can imagine how your Dad will respond if he gets wind of it.

So...........are you df'd yet? At first the article made it sound like you are, and then later it sounded like you aren't. I wonder if they will do it now, with the publicity and all.

Hi Marilyn - haven't been able to get online since the article hit the newstand - phone's been pretty busy!

Someone has sent a copy of the paper to my dad. He cold turkey stopped talking to me in June. What's really funny to me is that they (mom and dad) were over here visiting Memorial Day weekend. We had a wonderful visit, probably the best we've had in years. Joel was DF'd the following week. Nothing in our lives had changed in those 8 days, except for the announcement that Joel had been DF'd. We didn't know the elders were working on DFing him. It had been over a month since they PO had called. Dad has not responded to my e-mails. Mom has called me at work a few times but I'm sure that will stop once they see the newspaper. My sis hasn't called or IM'd or e-mailed since the first part of July.

As for whether I am DF'd or not, as far as I know, nothing has been announced at the KH. This should do it though, especially since the interview on the radio with Mark Fuhrman yesterday. But I don't expect I'll find out about it directly. The elders have never told Joel that he was DF'd - no letter, no phone call. My sis is the one who called and told me - the good old JW gossip grapevine. Wonders never cease!

Linda, thanks for the update. I should tell my mother about this situation. She talks about your folks and you and your sister from time to time. Is your sis even active? How about the girls? I'm sure it affects them in some way too, because of their grandparents, even though they wouldn't recognize the action taken against you two.

I wish we got the Mark Fuhrman show here. So close, yet so far away.

    Marilyn
