funky derek's link is the best where it lists all wars, etc by death toll in order. WWI is by no means #1 on the list.

    Sheeesch.

Funny thing is, I could show that to my mother and she would beleive the Watchtower over recorded history.

The quote doesn't say destruction of what, life, property, frog spawn? So by definition it is unmeasurable.

Why seven times? --- because it sounds like a heavenly number. When making a number up, fourteen point three six, though just as valid, doesn't have the same ring to it, does it.

    Thanx for the link FD.

Clearly the 2,3,4,5th Wars on the list greatly exceed WW1. Of course as The Chuckler mentions, the Watchtower statement is vague. So they could have meant any sort of destruction - but I would imagine that with greater numbers of dead comes greater destruction, in almost any category.

In striking fulfillment, the first of the world wars started in 1914, bringing destruction seven times greater than all the 900 wars of the preceding 2,500 years!

You guys are forgetting one very important little detail: They are not refering to deaths, they are refering to "destruction". So this poses the question: What is the definition of "destruction" they are using and how is it being quantified?

Someone needs to write the WTS a letter asking about this and request references and documentation.

I would write a letter to them only they don't like me very much.
