No they need to be identified. We need to know where the danger is. But we also need to use the correct labels.

By the abusers actions they have ruined their future and reputation. Speaking about what an abuser has done does not ruin their future. It is already ruined.

Thanks to all who replied. I now have a better (albeit scarier) understanding.

Absolutely it is possible. The word pedophile entails sex with a child under the age of 13. There is another term for sex with a teenager, but the word escapes me right now. However, the words "child molester" entail sex with anyone under the age of 18.

er... just thought I'd point out that 16, or even lower, is legal in many locations, many of them in the USA. What confuses people is that the US has left the age of sexual consent up to states, but the age for pornography is set at 18. As for sexual attraction to developing teenagers, that's ephebephilia.

If it isn't legal to participate in sexual conduct with a girl under 18 years of age because that is considered pedophilia and child molestation, shouldn't it also be illegal for girls under 18 to wear makeup, jewelry, and sexually suggestive clothes (like their high school name written on the butt of their shorts)?

IMO --- I think pedophilia is the act of abusing pre pubecent children . I think that is just plain disgusting . I was a teenager once myself and know that most teenagers are sex maniacs and sexually active so I don't think this includes teenagers . Of course by law it could make you a child molester but really is a fine line . Definately abusing your own children would make you a pedophile .It often includes verbal abuse and threats . That's my non professional opinion ....
