Ever notice how the folks who are the most prone to lob an insult or accusation over the fence are also those who hide behind a closely guarded psudonym while online? And, the majority of their barbs are aimed at those of us who are comfortable enough to be here as ourselves, using our real names.

I know that there are many folks who use psudonyms to protect their identity from those within the organization whould would rat them out to the Brooklyn Feds, but many others just like to hide behind a facade and shoot their slings and arrows from far offstage.

When folks like Alan, Kent, Randy, Joel, and Englishman (along with many others) have something to say, they back it up by having the balls to say it as themselves. Such is not the case for many others, whose nom d'keyboard serves to hide them from any accountability.

Hi I am Jeremy, but if you look at my identification card icon on the side you would know that. I know this thread is not directed at me, but I do have the stones to tell the world who I am. You make a great point about some that lock up their identity. They are cowards, what are they afraid of, because I don't really care what they have to say. My life is complete no matter what is written here on this site. By the way, the reason I picked jayhawk1 instead of using Jeremy is I love the Jayhawks.

Oh I am sooo brave I use my real name... gag. SO it is okay to insult otheres as long as you use your real name when doing so? Me thinks you have the definition of bravery and stupidity confused.

Give me a break!!! Some obviously don't have as much to lose as others or simply don't care about their JW family members. Or perhaps you were publicly disfellowshipped and already have lost family and friends so it makes no difference to you.

Well good for you. Enjoy your freedom. Not all have that luxury.

It is so hilarious that the names you mentioned..well two of them especially are notorious for their personal attacks and insults... I guess that blows your theory doesn't it?

I wasn't thinking of you when I said that - I was talking about those who hurl insults far and wide and then duck behind a cover of anonymity. I hadn't noticed such activity from you in the past.

And, yes, if you are going to take someone to task on some subject, your argument has much more substance when you are forthright about who you are.

In my case, I am neither DA nor DF. I have friends that are still in the organization, and I have no problem with any of them seeing this. The local Elders can see it too - they know where I live, and can stop by to say hello anytime.

no I would not agree. True You Know and Fred Hall both trolls in their own ways are highly insulting posters. But JanH and Kent over the years are notorious for their insults (some very eloquent but insults still the same) They are far worse in their consistent pattern of attacking the individuals. They controlled themselves for the first little while here at Simons but have again fallen back into their old pattern.

Case in point. the thread I started about Kent's posting of headlines. Yes I was attacking Kent's style but did not attack the man. Kent's first response..hey bigmouth!! Then of course Jan jumps in with his own insults despite the matter had pretty much being settled already. Then look at the manner in which he dealt with Prisca because she disagreed with him.

Me thinks you might want to re-think your heroes/examples. Your choice.

I admire your courage and agree with much of what you say. I don't use my real name (and in fact removed my image, even though it was centuries old), to protect two people: my Witness daughter, and my sister who is not yet ready to "come out."

Although I do not use my real name, I've been honest about where I live, the cirumstances of my departure from the Borg, my gender and marital status, and enough other details that if someone really wanted to know, they could discover me. However, I choose not to hurl insults about. Not for the reason you postulate however, but because it is not my nature to do so. I've had some fairly heated discussions with some posters here, yet I doubt anyone could accuse me of a direct insult. (Yes, I do make jokes that are less than complimentary, but none of them are truly mean-spirited.)

There's still plenty of glass in my house.

Kismet, You bring up some good points, and I have to agree with you on much of what you say.

However, I still contend that the nastiest, throw-a-rock-and-run retoric comes from folks who keep under wraps. Friday's ongoing homosexuality thread-from-Hell is an prime example - I think his behavior there would never be matched by anyone operating in the light of day.

I don't want to discount how important anonymity is for many, and would never want to imply that people should HAVE to reveal who they are if they don't want to. But maintaining that anonymity also comes with a price, and that is the fact that others don't REALLY know if the person they are dealing with is on the level with them.

BTW---my name is Mark I live in Phx. and was raised
in N.J. my brother is also on this board and I'm not hiding
from know one.I have mentioned a lot about my life on other
forums of this board. The Elders know exactly how I feel and
can't prove me wrong they have chosen to leave me alone.
