    i watched it last night....

ya know.......... it took place over 1000 yrs after Christ, and here we are 1000 yrs later..

all the centuries of faith and dying "for god" or in the name "of god" whichever religion you may be and we're supposed to believe that Jesus is coming again? um i might be an awful person for having such thoughts but hey Jesus, your and mohammeds last visits caused a shitload of problems on the earth, if you come again, be better preprared this time k?

Watched it this past weekend. Loved the film. I was with my girlfriend, and I had to stop the film a few times to fill her in on all the background material - one of the things I owe to being a Witness is a pretty good knowledge of history!

I found it interesting that the two most noble characters, the Moslem and Christian leaders, seemed also to be pretty skeptical of their respective religions - and especially of their resident zealots.

I have it rented, but haven't watched it yet. Sounds like I will respond much like I responded to "Luther."

    yeah i caught that too..

if you have the dvd on the 2nd disk there is a A&E program and a history channel program that gives good factoids about the characters and the time period.

i enjoyed it more than i thought i would.. what i got out of it was step out of the way and let the fanatics kill each other lmao.

Is this the one with Orlando Bloom???

One question off the topic (don't mean to hijack, just hate to start a thread)-When I checked this site a few minutes ago there are 2 pages of posts, some from yesterday, but mainly today, that are just now showing up. They weren't here an hour ago. What's the freaking problem??

Sorry, now back to the picture show...........

    The final battle brief summary.

Muslims turn up: 'Piss off christians and you will be spared'!

    Christians: 'Get stuffed'

Battle ensues christians and jeruesalum(sp) get pummeled.

Muslims again: 'Piss off christians and you will be spared'!

    Christians: 'OK'

WTF was the point of the battle then?

the christians werent going to be spared..they were all to be slaughtered men women and children just as the christians had done to the muslims in the past battle when they took jerusalem from the muslims, but bail......bal.......erm orlandos character threatened to destroy the holy places before they all died, so that was the bargaining chip that saved the lives of the christians inside.

I too just saw that movie this past weekend, I liked it more that I thought I would. I noticed that Bael? was pretty fed up with religion, and seemed to be pushing a more universal type of acceptance of everyone, since we are all part of humanity. I saw important points being made in that movie, I hope Hollywood keeps em coming, I'm looking forward to the one being filmed now about the dead sea scrolls. It should be quite interesting.

Good film, though I thought Orlando was a bit weak as the lead - it needed some one with greater screen presence, like of Chuck Hestons ilk.

I know it was a story, but, correct me if I'm wrong, but where did the siege equipment come from? When you saw Saladins armies travelling towards Jerusalem across the desert, they weren't dragging them and they weren't there long enough, nor had the trees, to build them. What were they using for ammo? They were supposed to be hurling boulders, or Greek Fire which is incendiary, (did they bring them as well, cos there ain't any in the desert), but when they hit Jerusalems thick walls they exploded like artillery shells.

    Artistic license I suppose.
