That is more or less what I was alluding to in a post the other day when I said that if someone with a JW mindset strives to be an "intellectual", it just doesn't work. It's like trying to mix oil and water.

Apparently it is a fact that AF has been subjected to professional psychiatric aid. I applaud the fact that he once was able to bring himself to that point. By why has he abandoned real mental help and replaced it with places like this?
Mishnah, I am disgusted by your comment. Bigots like you have no idea of the damage you do. Or else you do not care. Either you are an asshole or completely stupid. I don't know you well enough to figure out which.
Comments like that are very damaging. Many people, especially JWs, need professional therapy...usually for depression.
Comments like yours that state that those who get therapy are nuts make others who do need professional help not seek it. Who wants others to think they are nuts?
Our P.O. had a severely depressed brother. He would joke about his "insane" brother during his talks! That made me truly sick.
A good friend of ours, a JW, suffered from severe depression and often was treated at a mental institution (the Royal Ottawa Hospital). Naturally, all the good JWs gossiped about how "crazy" she was. Why else would she need treatment at a mental institution?
Add to that how the Society used to tell JWs that if they sought therapy they were "going back to Egypt", i.e., the world. How many JWs would seek therapy know the "slave" was against it? Fortunately, the Society now allows JWs to get therapy.
My first wife had every symptom of maniac depression. She knew she was maniac, and so did I. When the downside of being maniac kicked in, she became very verbally and physically abusive. Our kids and I put up with this for eighteen years. She would not seek treatment because she did not what others to think she was insane. No amount of pleading from me would get her to go for help.
After our separation, she finally sought out some help. Then her brother told the courts that she was seeking treatment for alcoholism. The asshole had lied, she had sought treatment for depression.
What is the chance she will seek treatment again? Very small.
How many others will read or hear such comments from fools like you and then not seek out necessary treatment? How many will abuse others or attempt suicide before they get the help they need? If they get the help they need.

I must confess I haven't even read the thread you reference, so I can only give my first impression of your impression of it...
However, others have already highlighted your obsession over someone else's supposed obsession (I particularly liked seven006's rebuttal, and Skeptic's response shames you) so I'm a day late and a dollar short on that front...
So I'll just be a smartass:

Philo, he did not call me "dumb," but Duns. Can't you at least get that right? AGAIN: No normal person, no sane person, needs to use a callous term like that that many times in just three messages. 39 TIMES! I know that in downplaying it and laughing it off you are better able to come to grips with the reality behind this fact. I am happy for you. But don't expect me to take someone like AF seriously when he is coming unglued right before our eyes. Duns was trying to talk on a higher plane and AF insisted on roaming in the garbage. He is not a serious person and that's probably, probably one reason why he was rejected by his congregation and never appointed to an elder. I bet he took that personally as he does everything else. But I point out his symptoms here to remind him of what he already knows - he's cracking up and that's no laughing matter. If you were really his friend you would refer him to a local professional before he gets to 100 "dumbs," "Dummys," etc. I fear that if he hits that number by then it will be too late and his loss of cerebral fluid will be on your hands.

Let's assume he is a psycho. What does that have to do with his posts, and his arguments? If that is all true, then his arguments should be easy to attack, shouldn't they? But you haven't attacked his actual words on this forum, you've attacked him.
