Lee: I think you're right, more and more of the "shepherds" as well as the R&Fare tired of being beaten around by an abusive organisation that still trumpets its "we're the best" slogans.
mrsjones5: I'd say I feel more like 'content', but yep, it sure is good!
misanthropic, AlmostAtheist: Don't worry, I still see the great need to share in pointing out to people the truth about "The Troof".
Having said all that, I find that the WTS/JWs is irrelevant. Sure, they like to wield the big stick with their shunning, but who are the ones who look stupid?
I was working at a real estate office when the usual window cleaner (what else! ) was cleaning the office windows. I knew him well from Bethel days and gave him a cheery 'hello'. he turned his back and walked past - in the middle of an office, I ask you! The principal of the business saw the action and was hugely offended, so much so that his distaste for dubdom was greatly enhanced! He won't be opening the door to them again.
Another time I was visiting my wife's business premises and a Service Overseer from a neighboring congregation was calling (Mrs Ozzie wasn't yet on the black list) and he literally pushed past me, actually he pushed me over! On my own premises!!! Such is the hate that dubs are taught in the guise of righteousness.
Still, their antics belie their irrelevance in the scheme of things. If it were not for the fact that my many little ozzies are all loyal dubs the borg would have faded from view long ago.
Every since I left the borg I've felt that if they come to the door looking for a convert, then they will get more than they bargained for but I'm not gonna seek out one to shovel sand in the box with. Now my son is a different story. He has engaged the dub youth on many occasions with the result that several gave up the "society" and moved on. I think he considers liberating a dub is sweet revenge for me.. Never told him how little I really cared. I commend him though. He is a hundred times more effective than I would be.
After the past several years of research and trying to point out things I've learned to my husband, I have decided to let it rest. He claims to have looked at all the information I have brought up and researched it for himself and yet refuses to entertain the idea that any of it may be right. Personally, I'm wiped out after our many discussions and see no point in beating a seemingly dead horse.
In spite of the fact that I sometimes get caught up in the frenzy of reliving bad memories I thought were put to rest, it has been a huge burden lifted to be set free from the control that held me captive for over 20 years. I enjoy knowing so many others have found the same refreshment and would like to simply offer encouragement and empathy to those just starting out. There are many others here that are much better with the debates over doctrine. I've seen such a good blend of all of it here and am amazed at the number of new ones to appear here in just the few weeks I have been dropping in. What a wonderful thing a forum like this is!
A big hello to you and Mrs Ozzie. I hope you are both well and look forward to catching up with you again soon!
I'm still in those baby steps where I hear anything JW and get really curious/interested and want to know what is being said. I also want to help other people understand the reality about what goes on in the religon. I want them to see beyond the love bombing!
One day I know that I will be at the stage your at. I'll just let it happen naturally.
