Hello, people!
I have had a very busy week, which I will write more about in a different thread. But, I wanted to come here to thank you for your lovely posts and all the prayers and healing. I sit quietly on Thursdays in the easy chair in my room at the appointed time, and I definitely feel the love washing over me. It's amazing!!! And very humbling.
On Monday they did another CBC and my counts were very low again. So a neupogen shot was administered and they will check me this coming week pre-treatment to make sure I've recovered. I'm pretty sure I have as my energy level feels much higher than last weekend. In fact, I was wondering if I was becoming a hypochondriac because when they did my numbers on Friday, they weren't too bad, yet I was EXHAUSTED! My nurse suggested I might be heading in a downward direction and she was proven right on Monday.
I missed classes on Monday because I felt so awful and on Friday, too. Friday was because I had a meeting with my attorney in the AM and another with the counselors at my son's high school in the PM which conflicted with classes. It'll be okay, though, as we were doing peer reviews of an essay in one class and I already knew we are having a chapter test in the other on Monday. So I can keep up.
This dumb Adriamycin had me nauseous until Wednesday morning. That's fully 15 days post-treatment! Yuck! And so far, there is not an anti-nausea drug that's giving me any relief. Or rather, not one that I can take and actually be alert! I do take Ativan (a tranquilizer) sometimes at night so I can get to sleep, but it's not possible for me to use that during the day when I have places to go and people to see. ;)
The neupogen shot last week did not make my bones ache and I was beginning to think that my bone marrow had adjusted to the roller coaster ride that chemotherapy entails, but Monday's shot has had me aching for days now. Go figure! Only the first 24 hours were bad enough to warrant full-on Vicodin doses, but still, all of this is extremely wearing and, frankly, a pain in the ass.
In fact, I feel I'm whining too much here, but I also feel an obligation to keep you all abreast of my situation.
SO -- I am half-way through the Adriamycin and have only the month of November to be mostly nauseous before I return to taking a drug similar to the first one I took. And I shall be relieved to go back to the symptoms I had with Taxotere which were less debilitating than this present bugger! Still, I do know that Adriamycin is very effective against breast cancer, and so I am fortunate to live now and be able to benefit from it.
OK -- long-winded post completed! Thanks again to all you lovelies!
