    Dear God,
Hope you got the letter and
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
But all the people that you made in your image,
See them starving on their feet
'Cause they don't get enough to eat
    From God
    I can't believe in you.

    Dear God,
    Sorry to disturb you, but
I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
And all the people that you made in your image,
See them fighting in the street
'Cause they can't make opinions meet

    About God,
    I can't believe in you.

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
    And the devil too?!

    Dear God,
Don't know if you noticed, but...
Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book,
Us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look,
And all the people that you made in your image,
Still believing that junk is true
Well I know it ain't, and so do you

    Dear God,
    I can't believe in...
    I don't believe in...

I won't believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
You're always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring, the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
And it's the same the whole world 'round.
The hurt I see helps to compound
That Father, Son and Holy Ghost
    Is just somebody's unholy hoax
And if you're up there you'd perceive
That my heart's here upon my sleeve.
If there's one thing I don't believe in.....

    It's you.....

I don't see people leaving the thought of a God . Even if they do not attend a church or whatever people have to have the thought of some kind of a higher power .

Qcmbr: aw stop it - most people in the world believe in God. I'm afraid you'll have to put up with the majority of us for a long time yet.
This isn't even remotely true, unless you lump Christianity in with Judaeism and Islam, and then it's only by a slim margin. Most of the world, if they believe in a personal God at all, do not believe in the Christian God.

I think peoples' concept of god will change, but i don't think that it will ever get to the point where noone or almost noone believes in it. Why? Because as time goes on and less religion gets shoveled into impressionable minds, they will be able to discover the real 'god', if you want to use that word. Not that it's that important.

Foe most of my adult life, I didn't believe in God.

Then, when I was 40, the borg convinced me of his existence.

14 years later, I don't believe in him any more, and I reckon a lot of people world wide share my view, but maybe not half yet

As long as people are alive ( which means they must have a life-maintaining Spirit in them ) they will believe in God.

What do you mean I don't believe in God?
    Talk to him every day
What do you mean I don't support your system?
I go to court when I have to
What do you mean I can't get to work on time?
    Got nothing better to do
What do you mean I don't pay my bills?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?

If you like metal, you should listen to this song, it's just too good! Surprised to learn that he is a Born Again Christian these days like Danny Haszard! :)

Some people will always follow this or that God without end. God creator or God the creation, makes no difference because he she it performs the same function in either case. God is our shield against despair. The possibility of continued existence after death is one of the few threads we can grab for when we become overwhelmed by the callous, truly absurd nature of the universe.

Of course when the earth loses its magnetic field all life will end and so will all beliefs.

You guys are so funny.... how absurd of a thought ...

It is VERY easy to not believe in God, IF you've never had a genuine experience with God ...

It's IMPOSSIBLE to not believe in God IF you have had a genuine experience with God...

Those that don't believe, will alway mock those that do believe and call their experiences bogus ... it has always been that way, and so it will always be (at least for the short term....)

    whatever you say...

    JH,

the world will continue to get more and more secular the more that science and medicine improve people's lives. that's a given.

HOWEVER, there will always be people who believe in a god, or gods, or magic, or "astral planes", regardless of the secular world at large.

i like to put it this way when people ask me this question:

if there was a nuclear holocaust, and the human race was only survived by a small community of 2000 atheists (lets just pretend), i only give their children and generation or two before people start believing in god again, or other magical thoughts.

hopefully that never happens, and the power never goes out, and science continues turning us from apes into humans.

    sincerely,

    TS
