If you walked as Christ walked, would you be following behind a JW?
Would you be doing door to door work?
Would you be refraining from pointing out the errors of the appointed religious men?
Would you be judging fellow believers as unworthy?
Would you be disfellowshipping them for a year before allowing them back into the congregation and waiting 10 years before giving them serious responsibilities (Peter)?
Would you be requiring that everyone stay single? Or that pioneers are closer to God?

"LET us run with endurance the race that is set before us," wrote the apostle
Paul, "as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith,
Jesus." (Hebrews 12: 1, 2) Following the course of faithfulness requires that we
look intently at Jesus Christ.
Look intently at Jesus Christ
Don't be fooled by the title or the scripture. The members of the WTS are still called JEHOVAH'S Witnesses, not Christians. And although one of the WT corporations is called the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, there are at least 10 more WT corporations without a hint of the word "Christian" to be found.

Scriptures, means "to direct one's attention without distraction," "to look ,
away from one thing so as, to see another," "to concentrate the gaze upon." One
reference work observes: "The minute the Greek runner in the stadium takes his
attention away from the race course and the goal to which he is speeding, and
turns it upon the onlooking crowds, his speed is slackened. It is so with the
Christian." Distractions can hinder our spiritual progress. We must look

And are JWs the only ones who show Christian love? How does the WTS downgrade the efforts by non-JWs.

Thus it is a common failing in Christendom to be concerned only about showing neighbor love, letting the more important commandment, to love God with one's whole heart, mind, soul and strength, be entirely lost sight of. So we find many well-meaning professed Christians busying themselves with the "social gospel," with humanitarian projects, such as fighting diseases, political corruption, economic and social evils, but they give little if any thought to the first and greater commandment, to whether this truly is God's will for them or not.
(John 15:12-14) 12 This is my commandment, that YOU love one another just as I have loved YOU. 13 No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends. 14 YOU are my friends if YOU do what I am commanding YOU.
JWs will say they will die for a fellow JW but will not LIVE for a fellow JW.
(Luke 22:19) 19 Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: "This means my body which is to be given in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me."
Over 6 million JWs are not doing this in remembrance of Christ.
4 Hence, walking as Jesus walked requires that we closely observe him as the
Chief Leader and that we follow his steps closely. The important questions to
consider in this regard are: How does Christ lead today? How should imitating
his manner of walking affect us? What are the benefits of adhering to the
pattern set by Jesus Christ?

We should follow the instructions that the Head of the Christian congregation, Jesus Christ, gives through "the faithful and discreet slave," the appointed channel of God's organization here on earth.
How Christ Leads His Followers
5 Before ascending to heaven, the resurrected Jesus Christ appeared to his
disciples and assigned them an important work. He said: "Go therefore and make
disciples of people of all the nations." On that occasion the Chief Leader also
promised to be with them as they fulfill this assignment, saying: "Look! I am
with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." (Matthew
28:19, 20) How is Jesus Christ with his followers in this time of the conclusion
of the system of things?

Actually a better questions is how Jesus was with his followers between 100 CE and 1879 CE when Charles Taze Russell appeared on the scene?
The "Slave" is over 1800 years old!
The WTS also teaches, without any support, that the "Slave" represents the Christian congregation from its beginning in A.D. 33 up to now:
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that this parable pertains to the one true congregation of Jesus Christ's anointed followers. Beginning with Pentecost, 33 C.E., and continuing through the 19 centuries since then, this slavelike congregation has been feeding its members spiritually, doing so faithfully and discreetly. (WT 1981 March 1, p. 24)
And further:
From Pentecost, A.D. 33, up to this very present hour this ("feeding") has been lovingly and carefully performed. Yes, and these "domestics" have been fed on progressive spiritual food that keeps them abreast of the "bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established." WT 1960 July 15 p. 435.
So the well-nourished Christian congregation (Slave) as WTS claims was more than 1800 years old by the time Russell appeared on the scene in mid 1870s. This claim is downright nonsense without any proof or justification. Because, if it was the case that there was a Slave operating for over 1800 years, there was no need for Russell to have "revived the great truths taught by Jesus and the Apostles" (Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose 1959 p. 17). WTS cannot answer where this 1800-year-old congregation was located! Russell certainly did not seek out this non-existent congregation and neither did this mythical congregation seek Russell out! In fact Russell never turned to any earthly organization. He acted independently on his own. Russell and his associates were actually anti-earthly organization. Russell affirmed that:
We belong to NO earthly organization…All the saints now living, or that have lived during this age, belonged to OUR CHURCH ORGANIZATION: such are all ONE Church, and there is NO OTHER recognized by the Lord. Hence any earthly organization which in the least interferes with this union of saints is contrary to the teachings of Scripture and opposed to the Lord's will. (WT February 1884)

6 "The helper, the holy spirit, which the Father will send in my name," said
Jesus, "that one will teach you all things and bring back to your minds all the
things I told you." (John 14:26) The holy spirit, sent in Jesus' name, guides
and strengthens us today. It enlightens us spiritually and helps us to
understand "even the deep things of God." (1 Corinthians 2:10) Moreover, the
godly qualities of "love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
mildness, self-control" are "the fruitage of the spirit." (Galatians 5:22, 23)
With the help of the holy spirit, we can cultivate these qualities.
The holy spirit, sent in Jesus' name, guides and strengthens us today
But how? Is the individual JW individually directed by the holy spirit?
Helps us to understand "even the deep things of God."

defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness.' (2 Corinthians 7:1) Can we
really measure up to God's requirement of holiness, or cleanness, without the
help of the holy spirit? One of the means Jesus uses to lead us today is the
holy spirit, which Jehovah God has authorized his Son to employ.-Matthew 28:18.

8 Consider another means by which Christ leads the congregation today.
Commenting on his presence and the conclusion of the system of things, Jesus
said: "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed
over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? Happy is that
slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. Truly I say to you, He will
appoint him over all his belongings."-Matthew 24:3, 45-47.
Faithful and discreet slave--another means to lead the congregation per WTS. How they identify the slave as the WTS is a discussion of many posts in itself.

9 The "master" is Jesus Christ. The "slave" is the group of anointed Christians
on earth. This slave class is entrusted with caring for Jesus' earthly interests
and with providing timely spiritual food. A small group of qualified overseers
from among the composite "faithful and discreet slave" form the Governing Body,
serving as the representative of the slave class. They direct the worldwide
Kingdom-preaching work and the supplying of spiritual nourishment at the right
time. Christ thus leads the congregation by means of the spirit-anointed
"faithful and discreet slave" and its Governing Body.

Did you notice that the WTS capitalizes Governing Body when discussing the WTS group but small letters when discussing the governing body of the first century?

They all recognized the authority of a governing body in Jerusalem.
10 Still another manifestation of Christ's leadership are the "gifts in
men"-Christian elders, or overseers. They have been given "with a view to the
readjustment of the holy ones, for ministerial work, for the building up of the
body of the Christ." (Ephesians 4: 8, 11, 12) Concerning them, Hebrews 13:7
states: "Remember those who are taking the lead among you, who have spoken the
word of God to you, and as you contemplate how their conduct turns out imitate
their faith." The elders take the lead in the congregation. Since they imitate
Christ Jesus, their faith becomes worthy of imitation. (1 Corinthians 11:1) We
can show our gratitude for the elder arrangement by being obedient and
submissive to these "gifts in men."-Hebrews 13:17.

Taking the lead--does that make them "leaders"?
Did you know that up till the early 70's that elders were called "servants"? I guess it is better to be an OVERseer than a SERVant.
Contemplate how their conduct turns out--so when they lie, cheat, speak abusively of people in the congregation to their face and behind their back, commit adultery, beat their wives and children, sexually abuse their children....and worst of all some stay elders.
The elders that don't study with their family, don't train their children in the ministry, that don't sit with their family at the meetings because they are too busy talking to another elder in the back of the KH, the elders that swear at home and work and give a comment about how bad swearing is at the WT study.

Following a man is not theocratic. But it is surely wise to imitate the proven faith of a theocratic elder who is active in the evangelizing work, who is regular at meetings, and who deals humbly and lovingly with the congregation.

Since they imitate Christ Jesus--is it a given that if a JW is an elder that he is imitating Christ? I think not.
"gifts in men"--let's not forget "glorious ones" and being told by the CO that they get more holy spirit than the rank and file. "Mighty men" one CO called the elders. Not the sort of people that would wash your feet.
11 Yes, Jesus Christ leads his followers today through the holy spirit, "the
faithful and discreet slave," and the congregation elders. Our walking as Christ
walked involves understanding his way of leading and submitting to it. It also
requires that we imitate his manner of walking. "To this course you were
called," wrote the apostle Peter, "because even Christ suffered for you, leaving
you a model for you to follow his steps closely." (1 Peter 2:21) In what way
should following Jesus' perfect model affect us?

These appointed men receive direction from the Governing Body and willingly shepherd the congregation. In this way, Christ is with us now and is actively leading the congregation.

Be Reasonable When Exercising Authority
12 Though Jesus had received unmatched authority from his Father, he was
reasonable in the way he wielded it. All in the congregation-particularly the
overseers-should let their "reasonableness become known to all men."
(Philippians 4:5; 1 Timothy 3:2, 3) Since elders have a measure of authority in
the congregation, it is essential that they follow Christ's footsteps in
exercising it.
Authority..reasonable in the way he wielded it--makes it sound like a weapon or a tool of punishment.
All...particularly the overseers...reasonableness--reminds me of the 3 hour shouting matches elders told me about..shouting at other elders.

Every Christian-particularly the elders-must follow Christ's leadership. The overseers, or elders, have a measure of authority in the congregation. But they do not seek to be 'the masters over the faith of their fellow believers' by trying to control their lives.

13 Jesus took into consideration the limitations of his disciples. He did not
demand of them more than they were capable of giving. (John 16:12) Without
pressuring them, Jesus encouraged his followers to `exert themselves vigorously'
in doing God's will. (Luke 13:24) He did this by taking the lead and by
appealing to their hearts. Similarly, Christian elders today do not intimidate
others into serving God through shame or guilt. Rather, they encourage them to
serve Jehovah out of love for him and for Jesus, as well as for their fellow
man.-Matthew 22:37-39.
Limitations--Jesus had no limitations and was understanding; the elders have the same limitations that the rank and file do but are not understanding.
(Matthew 18:23-35) 23 "That is why the kingdom of the heavens has become like a man, a king, that wanted to settle accounts with his slaves. 24 When he started to settle them, there was brought in a man who owed him ten thousand talents [=60,000,000 de·nar´i·i]. 25 But because he did not have the means to pay [it] back, his master ordered him and his wife and his children and all the things he had to be sold and payment to be made. 26 Therefore the slave fell down and began to do obeisance to him, saying, 'Be patient with me and I will pay back everything to you.' 27 Moved to pity at this, the master of that slave let him off and canceled his debt. 28 But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves that was owing him a hundred de·nar´i·i; and, grabbing him, he began to choke him, saying, 'Pay back whatever you owe.' 29 Therefore his fellow slave fell down and began to entreat him, saying, 'Be patient with me and I will pay you back.' 30 However, he was not willing, but went off and had him thrown into prison until he should pay back what was owing. 31 When, therefore, his fellow slaves saw the things that had happened, they became very much grieved, and they went and made clear to their master all the things that had happened. 32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, 'Wicked slave, I canceled all that debt for you, when you entreated me. 33 Ought you not, in turn, to have had mercy on your fellow slave, as I also had mercy on you?' 34 With that his master, provoked to wrath, delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay back all that was owing. 35 In like manner my heavenly Father will also deal with YOU if YOU do not forgive each one his brother from YOUR hearts."
Did not demand of them more than they were capable of giving--but the WTS determines what you are capable of giving.

"A FEW years ago, many of us thought that only those with special circumstances could pioneer," wrote a pioneer, or full-time minister, in Japan. "It seems we were wrong. We are learning that only those with special circumstances cannot pioneer."
Without pressuring...do not intimidate others into serving God through shame or guilt--see quote above.
(Galatians 5:26) 26 Let us not become egotistical, stirring up competition with one another, envying one another.
(Galatians 6:4) 4 But let each one prove what his own work is, and then he will have cause for exultation in regard to himself alone, and not in comparison with the other person. . .

No one should judge the depth and sincerity of the dedication of another. Each should personally evaluate the extent of his own devotion to Jehovah. (Galatians 6:4)
The WTS gives this experience. Do you think there is some pressuring, shame and guilt happening here?
*** w95 3/1 p. 18 Living Up to Our Dedication "Day After Day" ***
Our devotion to Jehovah deepens as we grow in our appreciation for him. A 14-year-old boy in Japan dedicated himself to Jehovah and symbolized this dedication by water baptism. Later, he wanted to pursue higher education and become a scientist. He never thought of the full-time ministry, but as a dedicated servant, he did not want to leave Jehovah and his visible organization. To realize his career goal, he attended a university. There he saw graduates of the university being forced to dedicate their entire life to their companies or to their studies. He wondered, 'What am I doing here? Can I really pursue their way of life and dedicate myself to secular work? Am I not already dedicated to Jehovah?' With renewed appreciation, he became a regular pioneer. His understanding of his dedication deepened and moved him to determine in his heart to go wherever he was needed. He attended the Ministerial Training School and received an assignment to serve as a missionary overseas.
*** w94 7/1 p. 27 Joyful Submission to Authority ***
Conversely, if elders are not careful, they can deprive some of the brothers of their joy. If, for example, they make comparisons, commending those who have reached or exceeded the congregation's average in hours spent witnessing and by implication criticizing those who did not attain it, how will those feel who may have had a valid reason for reporting much less time? Could this not make them feel unnecessarily guilty and deprive them of their joy?
Making the national average is a standard way that elders determine the level of a JW's spirituality, especially brothers.
14 Jesus did not abuse the authority entrusted to him by controlling people's
lives. He neither set unreachable standards nor laid down countless rules. His
approach was to motivate others by reaching their hearts with the principles
behind the laws given through Moses. (Matthew 5:27, 28) In imitation of Jesus
Christ, the elders refrain from making arbitrary rules or insisting on their
personal viewpoints. In matters of dress and grooming or recreation and
entertainment, elders try to reach hearts using godly principles, such as those
outlined at Micah 6: 8; 1 Corinthians 10:31-33; and 1 Timothy 2: 9,10.
Controlling people's lives...unreachable standards...countless rules...arbitrary rules or insisting on their personal viewpoints...dress and grooming or recreation and entertainment...godly (or elder) principles.
All these things happened in the congregations I have attended over the last 40 years.
Several elders told me of times when the CO pulled out a letter from the WTS to the elders where the WTS "suggests" something and clarifying that didn't mean the elders had a choice whether they did it or not; it was from the FDS, thus from Christ and they had to do it.
*** w96 9/1 p. 20 Living by the Law of the Christ ***
And there is more. Jehovah's organization, as well as individual congregations, has to establish necessary rules and procedures in order to preserve good order. (1 Corinthians 14:33, 40) Why, Christians could not even meet together if they had no rules as to when, where, and how to hold such meetings! (Hebrews 10:24, 25) Cooperating with reasonable guidelines laid down by those given authority in the organization is also a part of fulfilling the law of the Christ.-Hebrews 13:17.
Nonetheless, true Christians do not allow their worship to become a meaningless structure of laws. They do not serve Jehovah merely because some individual or organization tells them to do so.

The Christian Greek Scriptures show that the apostles did provide helpful advice on some personal matters, such as about clothing and grooming, but they did not resort to making blanket rules.
Like brothers who want "privileges" not being able to wear beards?
Or sisters who want recognition as being good association be able to wear slacks to a WTS meeting.
Be Sympathetic and Forgiving
15 Christ left a model for us to follow in the way he treated his disciples'
failures and errors. Consider two events from his last night on earth as a
human. After arriving at Gethsemane, Jesus "took Peter and James and John along
with him" and told them to "keep on the watch." Then, "going a little way
forward he proceeded to fall on the ground and began praying." Upon returning,
he "found them sleeping." How did Jesus respond? He said: "The spirit, of
course, is eager, but the flesh is weak." (Mark 14:32-38) Instead of sharply
rebuking Peter, James, and John, he expressed sympathy! On that same night,
Peter denied Jesus three times. (Mark 14:66-72) How did Jesus treat Peter
thereafter? "The Lord was raised up and he appeared to Simon [Peter]." (Luke
24:34) "He appeared to Cephas," says the Bible, "then to the twelve." (1
Corinthians 15:5) Instead of feeling resentment, Jesus forgave the repentant
apostle and strengthened him. Later, Jesus entrusted Peter with great
responsibilities.-Acts 2:14; 8:14-17; 10: 44, 45.
The way he treated his disciples' failures and errors

Instead of sharply rebuking...he expressed sympathy
Peter denied Jesus three times--only days later after his "apostate" behavior, Peter spoke to the Jews about Christ. I wonder if an elder body would reinstate a "repentant" JW after only 50 days?
16 When our fellow believers fail us or wrong us in some way because of human
imperfection, should we not also be sympathetic and forgiving as Jesus was?
Peter urged his fellow believers: "All of you be like-minded, showing fellow
feeling, having brotherly affection, tenderly compassionate, humble in mind, not
paying back injury for injury or reviling for reviling, but, to the contrary,
bestowing a blessing." (1 Peter 3:8, 9) What if another person fails to treat us
as Jesus would have, refusing to be sympathetic or forgiving? Even then we are
under obligation to try to imitate Jesus and respond as he would have.-1 John
3:16.
Our fellow believers fail us or wrong us in some way because of human imperfection
Physical and sexual abuse?
Defrauding of our life's savings?
Having sex with our spouse?
As Jesus was?
According to the WTS, did Jesus forgive Judas?
According to the WTS, aren't there sins that are unforgivable?

Put Kingdom Interests First
17 In yet another way, we need to walk as Jesus Christ walked. Declaring the
good news of God's Kingdom occupied the central place in Jesus' life. After
preaching to the Samaritan woman near the city of Sychar in Samaria, Jesus told
his disciples: "My food is for me to do the will of him that sent me and to
finish his work." (John 4:34) The doing of his Father's will sustained Jesus; it
was as nourishing, satisfying, and refreshing to him as food. Would imitating
Jesus by remaining focused on doing God's will lead to anything less than a
truly meaningful and satisfying life?

Declaring the good news of God's Kingdom
The WTS has been "emphasizing" this is the last 5 articles because the rank and file are not as energetic as in the past. Could the lack of a real date for the end to hope for be part of the cause?
Where in these sample presentations do you see mention of the good news of God's kingdom (or even saying God's name is Jehovah even though that the title of the book is "Draw Close to Jehovah")?

18 When parents encourage their children to take up full-time service, they as
well as their offspring receive many blessings. A father of twin sons held
pioneer service before them as a goal from their early childhood. After
finishing their secular education, the twins did become pioneers. Reflecting on
the joys he has experienced as a result, this father writes: "Our boys have not
disappointed us. Gratefully we can say, 'Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah."'
(Psalm 127:3) And how do children benefit from pursuing full-time service? A
mother of five says: "Pioneering has helped all my children to develop a much
closer relationship with Jehovah, has improved their personal study habits, has
helped them learn how to manage their time wisely, and has helped them learn to
put spiritual things first in their lives. Although all of them had to make many
adjustments, none of them regret the path they have chosen to follow."
Parents encourage their children to take up full-time service
How many parents have or are in full-time service themselves? (or elders for that matter)
Pioneer service..for their early childhood--And why was not the father pioneering himself? How hard would it be to find an example of that?
Our boys have not disappointed us--and if they had not been able to pioneer or continue as such would they have been a disappointment?
Benefit from pursuing full-time service...closer relationship with Jehovah...improved personal study habits...manage their time wisely...put spiritual things first
Are we to understand that JWs who don't pioneer are not as close with God, have poorer study habits, don't manage their time wisely, and aren't putting spiritual things first? If a person's circumstances don't allow pioneering, does that mean they can grow as much spiritually as a pioneer. Is a person's spirituality measured by the number of hours spent knocking on doors? Aren't all Christians full-time; whoever heard of a part-time Christian?
finishing secular education--only high school and perhaps a year or two at a vocational school. College or the university is out now.
None of them regret--NO REGRETS after each experience at the district convention this year.
19 Youths, what are your plans for the future? Are you seeking to excel in some
professional field? Or are you working toward a career in the full-time service?
"Keep strict watch that how you walk is not as unwise but as wise persons,"
admonished Paul, "buying out the opportune time for yourselves, because the days
are wicked." He adds: "On this account cease becoming unreasonable, but go on
perceiving what the will of Jehovah is."-Ephesians 5:15-17.
Youths, what are your plans for the future--Translation: what are your parents' plans for your future and if you don't cooperate you will be a disappointment and asked to move out.
Seeking to excel in some professional field--does that mean you can seek to excel in a nonprofessional field?
Career in full-time service--how many parents and elders have a career in full-time service; is a career just for a year or two? Haven't parents been able to support a family a pioneer too?
Jehovah (Ephesians 5:15-17)--was "Jehovah" in the original NT Greek manuscripts?
Be Loyal
20 Walking as Jesus walked calls for imitating his loyalty. Concerning Jesus'
loyalty, the Bible states: "Although he was existing in God's form, [he] gave no
consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God. No, but he
emptied himself and took a slave's form and came to be in the likeness of men.
More than that, when he found himself in fashion as a man, he humbled himself
and became obedient as far as death, yes, death on a torture stake." Jesus
loyally upheld Jehovah's sovereignty by submitting to God's will for him. He
became obedient as far as suffering death on a torture stake. We must "keep this
mental attitude" and loyally submit to doing God's will.-Philippians 2: 5-8.

should not let the imperfections of our brothers cause us to adopt a critical
attitude.

How many JWs have you had stop talking to you or avoiding you because you were bad association; this is called personal "marking." How many have had so-called brothers and sisters stab them in the back with untrue allegations.

22 Of course, as imperfect humans, we cannot walk precisely in the footsteps of
our perfect Exemplar. However, we can strive to follow his steps closely. Doing
so requires that we understand and submit to Christ's way of leading and stick
to the pattern he set.

So the Christian must seek and follow the leading of God's holy spirit in union with the organization that Jehovah is using on the earth today.
23 Becoming imitators of Christ leads to many blessings. Our life becomes more
meaningful and satisfying because we are focused on doing God's will rather than
our own. (John 5:30; 6:38) We have a good conscience. Our way of walking becomes
exemplary. Jesus invited all who were toiling and loaded down to come to him and
find refreshment for their souls. (Matthew 11:2830) When we follow Jesus'
example, we too can refresh others by our association. Let us, then, continue to
walk as Jesus walked.

Every time I do a review I am so grateful that I don't go to the KH any more to hear the comments read from the paragraph prefaced by "the paragraph says" "the slave says" "the magazine says" "the society says." To hear maybe 2 scriptures read (including the theme scripture). How many in your congregation actually read a scripture to support their answer (reading a "snippet" from the paragraph doesn't count)? For those that must still attend, may these comments help.
If Christ came back to earth today, how would he be received by the the people at your KH? Would they kill him again?
