What reaction would you have had from the Witnesses if you would have told them, back then when you joined the Org, that the year 2005 will come and go, and nothing that the JW's predicted will come to pass.....nothing?
What reaction would you have had from the Witnesses back then if.......

a publisher would have been reported to the elders
An elder would have been removed or severely disciplined

you would have been considered a heretic and figuratively burned at the stake.

You wouldn't be able to make comments anymore.

It would be a rare moment of seeming happiness for the Witnesses: They would fall over laughing at how deluded I could be to suggest that the system would go on for that long. The suggestion that the world would still be a going concern in 2005 would have been considered so utterly ridiculous that the Witnesses would have pitied me and not bothered reporting me to anyone else.

It would be easy enough to test.
- Go to the Hall and tell them you think the New System will still be "just around the corner" in 2025.
- Note their reactions
- Wait 20 years
- Go back to the Hall, show them your notes.
- Note their reactions. (Please take pictures!)
- Tell them that you think the New System will still be "just around the corner" in 2045.
- Repeat steps 2-5
Of course there's a huge hurdle to be overcome here in order to actually perform this experiment: You'd have to go to a Kingdom Hall at least three times. I don't know that I'd have the stomach for it.
And there's that 60 year wait. But that's tolerable I suppose...

Interesting question.
How about how many dusb do think there would be if they were told that you would only receive your reward of everlasting life after you had lived your life out here on the earth?
No ending of the world by God, just a resurrection to life in paradise or hell.
