    Conscience

Jehovah's Witnesses avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the Scriptures, and they do not follow traditions that contradict Bible teachings. Emphasis is placed on personal application of Bible principles and the value of a sound, Bible-based conscience.—Matthew 15:9; 2 Corinthians 1:24

is this the biggest crock of shit on the website or what??? wow, 90% of their "rules" are inferred from strings of scriptures and DEFINITELY above and beyond what the scriptures plainly state. makes me sick

I don't know how they dare print that. I have heard a few "rules" lately, and most of them aren't particularly scriptural. Bethel, I think you are being generous with your 90% estimate.

This is a good one for Quotes. They make it waaay too easy on themselves to sue for embarassment.

Makes me ill too. Especially when JW's enforce their conscience on what others do. Cause we wouldn't want to stumble anyone now.

This is one of the most infuriating things about the WTS...they are such con-artists. They may not print a list of rules but they are implied in the articles and then reinforced by talks. Everybody knows what's expected pretty much, and if you somehow missed it, there will be some elder or nosey uber-pioneer who lets you know pretty quick that your conscience isn't what it should be and that you need to pray and study to come to the correct view of the matter---unless you are secure, confident person and tell them to mind their own business.

It reminds me of politicians and how they say one thing to one group of potential voters and almost the opposite to another group....and they phrase things in such a way that they can spin or even deny if someone challenges them.

The WTBTS, just like slimey, "worldly", dishonest politicians. I'm sure if there is a Jehovah, he's right proud to be represented by this group.

i hate their stupid conscience based bs... they tell us its up to our conscience, then they tell us we cant do things that will hurt other ppls consciences either... like when the elders pulled me aside for playing soccer for my soccer team at skool, which led to free schooling for me and invites to our national team for that matter... but anyways theyre telling how i CANNOT play, and i told them that the watchtower and YPA books say its up to my conscience and i was perfectly fine with it... they go, yeah but someone else may not like it, and it may be a stumbling block... i was like if theyre that weak do u really want anyways??? wow, i got a two hour long meeting out of that one... DAMN!!! the shit we put u with...

You mean the Conscience Matter™ on wearing beards? or sideburns? or women wearing slacks to the meetings or in service? or observing holidays and birthdays? or accepting medical blood products?

What the WTS's version of Conscience™ boils down to is whatever is the doctrine-du-jour in the latest publications. JWs do not have freedom of conscience in the true sense of the term, because if they truly followed their conscience sand not the word of the WTS, in matters where they disagreed with the WTS, they may put themselves in jeopardy of being Disassociated By Their Actions™.
