I was "in the Truth" for about four years and was disfellowshipped thirty-three years ago at the age of nineteen. When I became involved, at age fifteen, I was taught 'Theocratic Warfare' which is 'lying for the truth.' It really didn't bother me until I was several years older and became more introspective.
Jehovah's Witnesses certainly do not have a monopoly on this practice. I have encountered people lying for what they perceive as Truth, whether religious, political, economic, or scientifc, throughout my adult life.
However, the practice of it by Jehovah's Witnesses is interesting to me because, like ya'll, I was a JW.

I didn't really know about this until I went on the evil internet and there it was, the article about theocratic warfare, and it made me realize how evil JWs are. So you have to lie about that you do normal things, and not ministry things to the Judge, how hypocritical, its like going against the very fabric of being a witness. So far they didn't really teach me this thing, and I wonder why hmm.
And a quote i found": A friend of mine actually called the information desk at the WTS in Brooklyn, New York, and asked about the UN-deal. The guy at the desk said, after a sigh and a brief pause...: "Hrm...tell me: Have you heard about theocratic warfare?! "
Guess that answers the question

Thats quite a quote! I think I'd be concerned with bugging devices if I were him.
Can you please explain to me how to put quotations into boxes?Nate

You type your text out like this then
Highlight your text with your mouse that you want to quote
Then click on the quote symbol, right next to the smiley face on the top above Underline symbol

Alive and well here.
At my divorce hearing, my ex called in the "City Overseer" locally to testify what a loving arrangement shunning was. My attorney then asked him about the "Custody Brochure" and he denied it existed. Little did he know I had gotten a copy and given it to the judge before the elder came in. He made a fool of himself and he was there to testify for the other side.
My attorney also asked him to read quotes from the literature on shunning, especially the infamous 1952 definition of 'loving arrangements'. He got all flustered and sweaty and wouldn't read quotes even when told to by the judge. He then asked me directly, without addressing my attorney, if I got them of apostate websites. I replied that I had the originals in my library. Like it made a difference.
So, I have this on video and it's going to Randy to be put on an apostate website for all to see what Theocratic War Strategy really looks like. And a copy is going to the Justice Department also, they're waiting for it. The society promotes perjury. Black and white.
Think I'll send a thankyou card with a link to the CO.

There is Spiritual Warfare that involves outright lying. Then there is a more subtle form of deception often used. In fact it's so subtle that I used to actually believe it. Example: I used to think that only the most unapologetic wrongdoers were disfellowshipped. For instance, if you go to www.jw-media.org you'll find a video of a WTS representative explaining that only when a JW who "refuses to abandon his wrong course" is disfellowshipped.
http://www.jw-media.org/vnr/2122827332/311131.htm
If you have any experience as an elder as I did (or, certainly, if this has touched you personally) then you know that is a deception. All the Judicial Comittee has to do is feel that your sin is bad enough to DF you. In fact, even if a person is horribly sorry over what he/she has done--but has said something some of the body doesn't like--this may be used as a reason to suggest they are not as repentant as they should be.
To publish to the world that DFing only happens when someone "refuses to abandon his wrong course" helps JWs feel better about the organization. But does the person voicing this really believe that it's true? Of course he doesn't--and neither does the WTS who has placed it on their website. I don't used the word "lie" as freely as many here. But, in this case, this is unquestionably a lie.

The other day me and the members of an elite apostate forward team were working our way through a Dub entrenched position, and I had to throw myself onto a Theocratic hand grenade.
That's going to leave a mark, let me tell you.

Hi, Confession :) and everyone :) The main thing about "The Organization" is that they allow local interpetation of whats right, whats wrong and who is repentent (thats jehovahs job). I really dont think they have much to worry about with the internet considering most people dont take what they read on the net for fact and its very easy to explain away how the internet is run buy the "evil slave" etc. What is interesting is that the modern age especially video is going to catch up with them. Tangible proof of wrongdoings on the be half of elders etc... impossible to escape impossible to dance around. This will eventually force the organization to change its policys and further distance itself from the flock and the local elders forcing them to put qualified people (possibly even paid employees) in the position of elder or pastor. What are the requirements for being qualified to be and ministerial servent or elder? what kind of training to they get? how devoted are they (turn over rate)? have they given there entire life to training for the responsibility. or is it just random apponintments to these positions? can you really be a construction guy or migrant worker by day and just moonlight as a qualified counselour without any formal education?

I know one elder who thinks theocratic warfare is unchristian and is very vocal about it. He says he would not lie to defend "the truth." Hmmm...makes me wonder...maybe I should give him the scoop on 607. ;)
