What gets me is the idiots still think the world ended invisibly, then they had to change paradise earth to a spiritual paradise ................ Good God who is stupid enough to follow that line of reasoning . Even by their own definition of blaspheme they are guilty . BTW that is (lies about God and his intentions )

You can lead a horse to water...... Jehovah's Witnesses Millerite mutation right down to the very month.
Always do a regression analysis just where did 1914 come from?
"Time sneered that it was a "Great Disappointment." Nevertheless, millennial expectations persisted, leading to Seventh-day Adventism and the Jehovah's Witnesses .. Read from this newspaper article: The problem with Millennialism Naples Daily News, FL

In 19th-century America the preacher William Miller was persuaded that the Second Coming of Christ would take place on the night of Oct. 22, 1844. When Jesus failed to keep that date, newspapers of the time sneered that it was a "Great Disappointment." Nevertheless, millennial expectations persisted, leading to Seventh-day Adventism and the Jehovah's Witnesses."

    --------------

There you have it folks backup confirmation that Jehovah's Witnesses are "mutated millerites" a spinoff of second adventist. LOOK and open your eyes!! Why even the "Armageddon will come in month of October" false prophecy time line comes from William Miller a civil war army captain. Growing up born a JW I have heard/read that Armaggedon will come in "October" at least a hundred times,(World War one started and Satan cast out in "October") There is nothing that made me gasp in horror of all WT/JW falsehoods more then this finding that it all came from the Millerite movement! Yes,the "great disappointment" of Oct 22 1844 has never falted... it lives on in the Seventh day Adventist (who admit it) AND the Jehovah's Witnesses who deny it Must see video clip http://www.dannyhaszard.com/cultvideos.htm
The Millerites: Armageddon (History Channel) 4 min clip
This is the highly credible HISTORY CHANNEL (Roger Mudd) not the "apostates" exposing Jehovah's Witnesses as a spin-off of the William Miller movement of 1844 Matthew 24:35- " Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Growing up lifelong Jehovah's Witness from a devout family. This declaration by Jesus was applied to the Watchtower's1914 'generations' prophecy in talks and in WT written publications.
MILLIONS of followers were heartened that no matter what, this 'prophecy' will come to pass.
    Ahhh,such utter blaspheme

"Providentially, those Bible Students had not realized that there is no zero year between "B.C." and "A.D." Later, when research made it necessary to adjust B.C. 606 to 607 BC, the zero year was also eliminated, so that the prediction held good at "A.D. 1914." - See "The Truth Shall Make You Free," published by the Watch Tower Society in 1943, page 239."

What a convoluted can of worms this is!

It is an outright lie on at least four counts:

First: The early Bible students had most certainly been aware of the lack of a "zero year." C.T. Russell had been confronted with this problem as early as 1904 and had addressed this topic in a sermon given on January 11th of that year. He again addressed this problem in the December 1, 1912 issue of The Watch Tower. In both instances, Russell was not overly concerned with a discrepancy of one year, allowing that the date for the end of the Gentile Times could be either 1914 or 1915. This simply did not become a problem of any significance until after 1914 had come and gone and the date was, doctrinally speaking, "set in stone."

Second: The explanations that were given at the time this adjustment was actually made (1943 & 1944) were simply dishonest, "smoke and mirrors" methods of preserving the 1914 date. "Research" became necessary only after the fact as a means of replacing these faulty, embarrasing explanations.

Third: This quote implies that the resolution of the zero year problem involved two errors that simply cancelled each other out. In reality three separate errors were by degrees made to cancel each other out and each time, the result was the preservation of the 1914 date.

    1. Failing to account for the lack of a "zero year."

    2. Assigning the wrong year for the fall of Babylon

    3. Assigning the wrong event as the terminus of the seventy years.

Fourth: This quote pretends that a one-time adjustment was made in 1943 and everything has been fine since then. This is untrue. The adjustment JW's espouse today did not appear until May of 1952

... and THAT is why Joe Rutherford established the WTB&TS Department of Arithmetic.

It was non Christian Jewish rabbis of the middle ages that first formulated this one day one year hypothesis.

Barbour belonged to the Millerite movement and after the bitter disappointments of the 1840's failed prophesies he went to Australia where he worked as a miner. On his way back to the USA in 1860 he did some number juggling as many others were doing at the time and came up with a new date, 1874, as the time of the second presence, partly because it was believed that 6000 years since Adam ended then.

With the new date failing Barbour lost nearly all his 15 000 followers, save a couple hundred including Russell who held on to the faulty but convenient belief that Jesus returned albeit invisibly in 1874.

Russell then using also pyramidology and astrology came up with 1914 as the year of Armageddon ie the visible presence of Christ. When that also failed eventually the WTS re juggled things trashed the 1874 date and changed 1914 into the date of the invisible return with that of the visible coming in 1918, 1925, etc. until 1995 when they discarded the final generation concept.

Note how the adventists (Barbour) and the WTS (Russell) have totally arbitrarily divided the second presence of Jesus into an invisible one to be later followed by a visible one. This is transparent nonsense, the teaching of demons, since Jesus was invisibly present with his people every day from his ascension to now, and on to the end of the times.

This is all new to me. Are there sources for this?

Barbour stated his belief that the Gentile times were a 2520 year period extending from 606 BC to 1914 AD in the September 1875 issue of Herald of the Morning, on page 52. This was several months before he met Russell in January of 1876.

TD, it was indeed Barbour in September 1875 that came up with the 1914 date, what I was trying to say was that Russell tried to confirm that date also by using occult methods such as Pyramidology instead of just Biblical, but I didn’t express it clearly.

Russell met Barbour in the summer of 1876 and he was persuaded by him that the invisible presence of Jesus did begin in 1874 and the harvesting work started at the same time and was due to finish in 1914. Barbour also authored another failed prophecy about the snatching up of the saints in 1878 which Russell used as a pretext to split up with him.

Barbour was indeed the originator of the 1914 date however the WT was obscuring this fact and did not acknowledge it until the 1990’s, when forced to do so due to the historical facts brought out by the investigations of its critics.

I guess the 1914 dogma can be considered an apostate teaching then .LOL They always made it sound like Russell received some sort of revelation over this thing . Funny thing is I never heard anybody refute it like I have since being on the web . Yepp my argument would be the same as mentioned that jesus claimed rulership prior to his assention and was clearly shown to be an invisible force in the new testament . However there is an appointed time mentioned before his second coming . Luke 21:24 . I think the jerusalem mentioned is the spiritual one of pure worship and not the city in the middle east . Many believe it refers to 1948 when Israel became a nation in the UN .

And Barbour got his 606BC (Nebuchadnezzar begins ruling and attacks israel) starting date most probably from Elliott who suggested it but never used it, instead he used the fall of the northern israeli kingdom to Assyria around 700BC.

"no JW would deny that the bible students expected the end of the world in 1914"
This assumption is wrong, as they would. Yes, they would.
And why? Because the WTS lies today about what they believed then.

    Observador.
