    "Daniel's Prophecy"

Do you have the latest book? Note these passages. The best thing is to make sure you have an up-to-date copy...but here are the changes since the original printing.

    1st printing: That sacrifice anointed
Later editions: Jesus' baptism, in 29 C.E., had anointed

Jesus’ baptism, in 29 C.E., had anointed, or set apart, that heavenly, spiritual reality represented by the Most Holy of the earthly tabernacle and of the later temple.

    Watchtower 2001 5/15 p. 27 "Questions From Readers"

When was “the Holy of Holies” anointed, as foretold at Daniel 9:24?

Daniel 9:24-27 is a prophecy concerning the appearance of “Messiah the Leader”—the Christ. The foretold anointing of “the Holy of Holies,” then, does not refer to the anointing of the Most Holy compartment of the temple in Jerusalem. Rather, the expression “Holy of Holies” refers to the heavenly sanctuary of God—the heavenly Most Holy—in the great spiritual temple of Jehovah.—Hebrews 8:1-5; 9:2-10, 23.

When did God’s spiritual temple begin to operate? Well, consider what took place when Jesus presented himself for baptism in 29 C.E. From that point on in his life, Jesus fulfilled the words of Psalm 40:6-8. The apostle Paul later indicated that Jesus had prayed to God: “Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but you prepared a body for me.” (Hebrews 10:5) Jesus knew that God “did not want” animal sacrifices to continue to be offered at Jerusalem’s temple. Instead, Jehovah had prepared a perfect human body for Jesus to offer as a sacrifice. Expressing his heartfelt desire, Jesus continued: “Look! I am come (in the roll of the book it is written about me) to do your will, O God.” (Hebrews 10:7) And what was Jehovah’s response? The Gospel of Matthew states: “After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: ‘This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.’”—Matthew 3:16, 17.

Jehovah God’s acceptance of the presentation of Jesus’ body for sacrifice meant that an altar greater than the literal altar in Jerusalem’s temple had come into existence. This was an altar of God’s “will,” or arrangement for accepting Jesus’ human life as a sacrifice. (Hebrews 10:10) The anointing of Jesus with holy spirit meant that God had now brought forth his entire spiritual temple arrangement. Hence, at the time of Jesus’ baptism, God’s heavenly abode was anointed, or set apart, as “the Holy of Holies” in the great spiritual temple arrangement.

Later editions: However, the cleansing and whitening of God's people as a result of the intrusion from the king of the north was "for the time appointed." Hence

Jehovah’s people were to experience stumbling and refining "until the time of the end." Of course, they expect to be persecuted until the end of this wicked system of things. However, the cleansing and whitening of God’s people as a result of the intrusion from the king of the north was "for the time appointed." Hence, at Daniel 11:35, "the time of the end" must relate to the end of the period of time needed for God’s people to be refined while enduring the assault of the king of the north. The stumbling evidently ended at the time appointed by Jehovah.

    Severus----I think I love you!!!

I have been getting some flak (on a religious board) on this "Daniel" book on the prophecies contained in it....and how the WTS is giving that "food" at the proper time, yada-yada-yada. I can use this to shoot a few more holes in their theories now! Thanks!!!!

These had come out after I left, so I had no way of checking out anything said in them.

    W00t!

    hugs,

    Annie

    Thanks, Severus!

In my opinion this is the best one:

1st printing: However, the Aramaic equivalent of the word here translated "until" appears in the Aramaic text of Dan 7:25 and there means "during" or "for."

Later editions: However, the cleansing and whitening of God's people as a result of the intrusion from the king of the north was "for the time appointed." Hence

There is only one reason to change this:

Daniel 7:25 And he will speak even words against the Most High, and he will harass continually the holy ones themselves of the Supreme One. And he will intend to change times and law, and they will be given into his hand for a time, and times and half a time.

Someone figured out that it actually means "until," not "during" or "for." So, it is 7:25 that should change, not the other way 'round. But that would mean...

BUT, the problem is that on the CD-Rom, the first edition version of most of the text is given. If you check it out, you will see that it still says "1,000 years" and not "100 years" etc.

I'm confused, they don't tell the r & f of these changes do they? They don't put these changes out as 'new light', just kind of sneak it in and let the cong muddle through? When asking husband about, why are there so many changes in books & literature but they don't inform anybody of these changes? he just says they correct things. So I ask what if someone has a different edition? Then it's their responsibility to get the new ones. My point was that they don't tell people about these changes and it looks dishonest. Furthermore they don't claim it as 'new light'. Only the r& f do when questioned about the printing discrepancies.

What if old sister so and so doesn't get a new one but is teaching door to door from her older edition? Wouldn't the r & f be teaching a lot of confusion out there?

If they were honest about these changes they themselves would point them out in the begining of the book. Changes have been made at.....

Is this the Daniel list that was emailed between people at Bethel, and then some heavyweight at Bethel Breakfest told everyone present that if the FDS wanted that information distributed, they would have provided it?

Anyone recall who it was that made that breakfest annoucement?

I don't recall, but I heard that from more than one source.

It was awkward at book study when the books were different and no one knew why....except the undercover apostates in the room.

When I was at the MTS class, they gave us updates on the revelation book, when some of us gave them out to other JW friends we were told not to do that and to bring them back, what a joke! I think the WT don't really care what the 'Rank & File' are being told, as long as they stay there.
