I gave blood one time and did ok, the next time I tried the room starting spinning and I almost passed out, and I haven't tried since. If I was ever in situation where a doctor ordered a transfusion for me, I would hope that it would be necessary, but yes I would take it without hesitation.

I have had to take blood fractions when my life was on the line and I would do it again if necessary. They are much safer now. The one I've had has never had any reported bloodborne infections. That's not to say I didn't have a complete freakout session at the thought of it. I was literally hysterical. I think anyone who takes blood products should do so only when necessary and educate themselves about the risks. As far as it bothering me on a spiritual level, that is a complete non-issue. It is only the medical complications I am concerned about.

If I give blood or take blood it would be purely based on health reasons, nothing to do with spiritual reasons, like it once was.

I'd never give blood because I take heavy duty blood thinners and I bleed profusely. If I gave blood then got in an accident where I was bleeding I'd be in big trouble. That's the only reason though.
Giving blood or taking blood doesn't creep me out at all. It's just liquid tissue. And safer than ever. In ICU I already "took in blood"... plasma anyway. So it doesn't weird me out one bit.

I wouldn't give blood - but really only because I have the shyest veins in history - the nurses couldn't find the veins last time I needed a blood test, so ended up trying to use a smaller one one in the back of my hand - and that collapsed!
I don't know how I'd feel about receiving blood until it was the 11th hour - dub indoctrination still screams no, but I think the desire to keep living would overcome it! Hope I never have to find out.

Someone has to actually donate blood so the dubs will have an ample supply of aproved blood products.
