Ok............I'm happy that my Pittsburgh Steelers beat Greenbay yesterday, but I need to know something that has been bugging me for years.

And I know that many intellegent JWDer's would be able to answer my question.

Would someone p-u-l-l-e-e-z-e tell me the correct pronounciation of Brett's last name.

It is spelled...........FAVRE but I have never heard it said any other than FARVE.

How the hell do the announcers get the R before the V? Does it have something to do with the ethnic pronounciation and spelling?

    OK you cheeseheads..........fess up.

    Thanking yinz in advance,

    It's all wrong........

Brett is from Mississippi...not WI. He was on Vicodin and Alcohol early in his career so he must have pronounced it wrong at "Orientation"

Plus, we are having a BAD YEAR! Someone hand me a tissue.............sniff.

The correct pronunciation is Fahv-ray but it morphed into Far-uvh because nobody could accept or understand Fahv-ray. There's a street in my locality (and old congo territory) called LeHavre and every Witness pronounced it Lay-Harvh.

"What's Brett Fah....ver....ray..... doing here?" ben stiller, lol

The question is...do you know how to pronounce Jake Delhomme...the quarterback that you will see in the Super Bowl this year? Can you say Stephen Davis, Steve Smith, Julius Peppers five times really fast?

I do like the Steelers 2nd to the Panthers though!!!

I live near the capitol of the "cheesehead" state. Maybe some of you know how famous Wisconsin is for so many American Indian names? It is comical to hear people struggle through pronunciations - but it makes for fun conversation. Brett's name is pronounced "Farve". Who knows why? "le Havre" in French is pronounced "le" short "e" and "Havre" short "a" and swallow the "re". Word translates to "the Harbor".

So Brett's name is not French, nor makes any sense with how it's pronounced - just makes for fun conversation!! juni :)

    hey............thanks guys.

At least I know a little more about how to say his name than I did before.

    I liked this................

It's pronounced like this: "Wahsht UP"

Seriously...............he was and still is a great 1/4 back

Fame does fade quickly for those who have it. And I really enjoy the game! Just wish I could win the football pool once in awhile.........even if my Steelers lose.......after all............a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks.........lol

Isn't it great that we can root for someone or something these days? And not feel like we have left the org?

Ohhhhhhhhhhh..............sorry............guess we did leave the org and have a life now! ...........and every positive emoticon there is.....

I don't care how his name is pronounced. All I know is that the Atanta Falcons had him and to their stupidity didn't keep him.
