I think I'm rather more out than some (after all I did come out of three closets)!

I do constantly challenge things as they come up and just plain get over them. Still one will occasionally sneak up on me and I'll think, now where did that come from. Life is an ever changing ever growing process, if that stops, for me I think life would stop!

You can't tell me with an honest face that hearing about the Bird Flu or about major disasters, doesn't cause some split second of Witness thinking.

I may think it but I dont have that twinge of fear that "they might be right" that would go along with it.

The other day a friend of mine mentioned that he sleep with a woman he met that night at a bar and I joking stated, "as long as their are woman of low moral character, you will always have a date." Then I realized, "oh man, it's the Witness thinking again." Not that I didn't think I was right though.

I'm only just out, and I expect the years of brainwashing will affect me for quite a while. I felt guilty when I was out with friends the other night, guilty on meeting days, guilty when I'm alone with dedpoet, which I often am, in fact I feel guilty almost all the time at the moment. Dedpoet says those feelings will fase with time, I sure hope so.

Oh well as long as one has ceased to support the WTS through preaching activities (propagating their ideology), money donations and spending time for their meetings, that's already a big demoralising blow for the devious org as overall hundreds of thousands each year withdraw and the sum total of support loss is immense.

Hasn't anyone yet developped a fast method for shaking off the WTS spell?

I still feel there are parts of me that are influenced by years of JW teachings and I agree with your observation. I don't think it will be possible to ever be 100% free of the occasional 'jdub twinge', even if it is dismissed straight afterwards.

    Yep - it's called Whisky !!!

And I am sure that single malt whisky is better than blended for this spell breaking.

Even if not invented as yet there must be a way to totally disentangle someone's emotional world from a cult.

It is debatable whether the one or two things are ACTUALLY the "JW in you".

For instance, I have had two non-JWs (one is an ex-JW, another is my dad who never was a JW) tell me there are some good things to be learned from being a JW. My dad said the good morals they encourage is a positive, and is not necessarily JW-specific. My ex-JW friend says the same thing.

So I don't necessarily believe it is "the JW in you". It, in fact, may just be one good aspect of having been a JW that is not unique to JWs.

In this case I don't really consider it a "JW" trait.
