Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God's law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship. However, God's law requires us to recognize their being disfellowshiped from his congregation, and this despite the fact that the law of the land in which we live requires us under some natural obligation to live with and have dealings with such apostates under the same roof.Nov 15, 1952 Watchtower pp.703-704 Questions from Readers http://quotes.watchtower.ca/DF_DA.htm

Dissecting this quote, you can easily see they are saying they are disappointed they are not allowed to kill us, and the only thing holding them back is the prospect of punishment in our criminal justice system.

This post reminds be of the old English custom of trying suspect persons by trial by ordeal.

If a person was suspected of witchcraft or other crimes he was subjected by the clergy to undergo having his hands and legs tied and thrown down a well or body of water.

If he sank then he was considered innocent, if he floated he was guilty. If he sank it meant he accepted the sacrament of baptism, and God supposedly would save him. If he floated then he was renouncing baptism and indicating he was guilty.

    Today we consider this barbourous!

Are the actions of judicial committee today any less barbourous? Figuratively' they throw an undesirable member out into "deep water with hands and feet tied", separting him from friends and family. If when thrown out he goes his way and survives his ordeal and figuratively floats then it is considered that he had a bad heart and deserved his disfellowshiping. If the individual cannot survives the ordeal figuratively "sinking" and returns to fold, then he is considered as having a good heart and is repentant and is in good standig (tm)

That would have been the case with me, a few years ago. If I'd mentioned my doubts to them I'd have been reported to the elders for thoughtcrime, to protect the congregation from subversive influences. I was very deeply depressed at the time and that would have pushed me over the edge.

A couple of years ago some elders gave me a 'shepherding call', at which I cautiously told them that the reason I haven't been out in field service is that I don't feel comfortable teaching people something I'm not entirely confident in myself. They could only tell me to take up a study with an older sister. I pictured myself being branded an apostate within the first three weeks of the knowledge book, so politely declined. My family though... no, I couldn't even form the words to tell them.

I had a few depressing talks with my sister, the only thing I recall is tuning out after not being able to confound her logic, still being held by it myself at the time. The words 'I just don't believe it' were too simple, and would have alienated her for life. She would have 'marked' me and that would be that.

Motherdarling turns into a psycho hosebeast whenever I present an argument that can't be answered. None of this calm 'leave it to Jehovah', she wants blood. She has told me that if I don't keep going to meetings to seek reinstatement, in her exact words, 'fuck you girl'. That's all I need to know about how much I can trust her.

I have been away from my computer for a few hours watching the footbal games. I would like to add in addition to my above post

At my judicial hearing I was told that if the GB told me that my left hand was my right then it was from that time on. I asked several Elders if the GB told them this was to be the final test. They were to go home and kill their wives and then their childern would you do it? Knowing that the GB speaks for GOD. Every one I asked said YES they would.

We look down on the Middle East but people as dangerous live right here in the rest of the world. I under stand the thinking of the terrorist very well they are just faith followers of their faith as they see it. Just like the Jehovah's Witnesses.

I was being courted by the Mormans and I asked the Bishop to answer me the same question. What if the apostles of the Morman church was asked he to do the samething? He said "our apostles of the church realy are from God and anointed by GOD. So yes he would. I told him that is what I thought he would say if he was honest. I told him thanks for thinking I was worthy of becoming a Morman but I was not interested in joining another CULT.

So true, people are always willing to do what ever they think is right, when they believe God is behind it. Take away that belief and they think your foolish for following someone that is not following your God. All the while, not seeing the foolishness in theirselves.
