Despite your insistence to the contrary, you've brought a great deal to the forum in your first year, Jeff. Congratulations on reaching those milestones on your journey. January 2004 doesn't seem that long ago, but under these circumstances, it's a lifetime, isn't it? We attended our last meeting in December 2003 and it was in January 2004 that we, too, realized we were never going back. I echo your sentiments about this board and how important it has been in the healing process.

What was the 'clincher' for you? For us it was Franz' books. I read them after knowing something was seriously wrong, but could not know what it was. I spent weeks reading and rereading them in the winter of 2003/2004. What did it for you?

I often wonder how I could have stomached 19 years of that garbage - your being in it 50 years and then seeing it for what it is AND having the guts to leave is sooooooooo encouraging! Thank you!! Makes me feel a lot better.

The real breakdown is - Mom studied when I was 4 or 5 - nevr knew anything else. She drifted, I still believed and was dunked at 17. Left at 48.

The brainwashing is pretty thoughough and hard to get past isn't it?
