Especially Watchtower teachings. Nowhere else can you find teachings that evolve so quickly into something virtually unrecognizable from it's original form.

Has anyone ever wondered in the oft used scripture in the OT:
(Deuteronomy 22:22) "In case a man is found lying down with a woman owned by an owner, both of them must then die together, the man lying down with the woman and the woman. So you must clear away what is bad out of Israel.
Wife (concubine) = woman owned by an owner
DEATH TO BOTH (unless you are King David and Bathsheba)
(Deuteronomy 22:23-24) "In case there happened to be a virgin girl engaged to a man, and a man actually found her in the city and lay down with her, 24
YOU must also bring them both out to the gate of that city and pelt them with stones, and they must die, the girl for the reason that she did not scream in the city, and the man for the reason that he humiliated the wife of his fellowman. DEATH TO NEITHER MAN OR WOMAN (WHETHER SHE SCREAMED OR NOT)(I think this is a rape since it says "seized.")

It is a property issue or a sexual immorality issue? If so, why was death the punishment only in the first 2 cases where the woman was "owned" by a man and not in the last case.

I think many JW's try and read a kinder face on the society than what is actually in print. I made that point to the Elder this Sunday. It may be true that individual parents will give wise advice to their children about their educational futures, but that's not what the article says.

That reminds me of a line in a public talk one Sunday. The speaker made the comment that if at all possible, wives should accompany husbands on business trips where he'd be away from home for longer than a day so that he wouldn't be tempted to stray.
I can remember sitting there absolutely stunned that anybody would suggest that a man might not be able to remain faithful to his marital vows if his wife/sex cow wasn't right there to fulfill his needs. Evidently this jerk didn't think much of his own sex's ability to control themselves.
