Multi-level marketing, will humans ever learn?

    No

Humans are by nature social animals and Multi-level marketing is a mechanism based on socializing.

Unfortunatly humans are doomed to be drawn to this scam.

Quickstar = organization that works off the idea that you create your own online store and get share of profit. Major income into the organization comes from people high up selling videos, books and tapes on how to be successful. Making these videos yourself, without being a high up member is forbidden. People are promised the typical promise of all MTM schemes. You will be able to soon not work and make all the money you need ... just buy this small investment first. Oh and wait, this too and this and this, etc.

    Get a haircut...and get a REAL job!

MLM...appeals to the base human quality of greed... period.

Humans learn more and more everyday... this board is proof.

Some of us just take a little longer than others...

I know many Dubs that put more time and effort into NOT WORKING than actually working...it's kinda funny actually...and irritating.

    Can anyone say....Primerica......

Back when I was new in "da troof" I made the mistake of going to one of their seminars under the auspices of and elder friend of my father-in-law who tried befriending me. I was expected to provide eight friends or relative who'd be interested in buying what I now know were worthless financial products, who each would then be required to provide an additional eight friends or relative who'd in turn do the same and on and on.......

After realizing what I'd gotten myself into and ignoring the elder's repeatedly harassing calls, when he finally did get a chance to talk to me, he chided me being a waste of his time.

    Caligirl,

Looks like you and I are alone here. LOL...

Actually I'm not involved in MLM, but I know that lots of people are making lots of money with it. I know some of them. Some here will say, "Yes, but what about the even greatever number of others who never made a cent?" It's as if they think this is some sort of Communist money line. Stand in line, get the money you "deserve." It's a business. Some people are cut out for it; many aren't.

It's all about "greed," isn't it? Yep, $300 to $500 per month... What a greedy jerk someone must be to want that.

I mean, we can understand why they'd be irritated by the organizations that hype people on the millionaire dreams. But it's no use explaining that others don't create such hype. No use explaining that putting in 2 or 3 hours a week can bring somone a small or mid-size income that (over time) can make all the difference in what sort of retirement they can enjoy.

You know how most JWs recoil at any religious term that did not originate with the Watchtower Society? They've allowed their brains to be imprinted with a permanent negative association anytime someone uses one. Not much thought involved: brain hear word, person get mad. Pretty much the same thing here. People have made expressions in this thread that demonstrate that, since so many MLM organizations have teased and hyped others with outrageous dreams, this MUST mean that the entire concept of marketing a product or service through MLM is a wicked thing--and they're not going to listen to a word of it.

Just remember, MLM is like religion, as much as we all see terrible things in the Witnesses and have moved on. There are millions more who see you as a fool, that have found happiness and success from the inside of the religion. Yet, does that make their religion okay? Well the same is with MLM, some succeed, but millions fail and get ripped off. Does that mean MLM is okay. My biggest recent issue with MLM, is that when friends get into it, all they want to do is talk about it. When you show no interest, you loss a friend. They have the attitude that you are either with me or against me, and those against me are left out of my MLM million dollar dreams. Seem it tons of times and seeing it again with my wife's parents. MLM is a joke!
