That education I didn't get....

Yeah, so instead of moping about being discouraged from pursuing higher education I've decided to take advantage of this new freedom and have enrolled myself in an undergraduate degree. I'm going to start on it part-time, and study via correspondence. The materials for my first unit arrive next week and I've been gearing up for it for a couple of months starting with some short study skills practice; trying to get my dried-out brain working again.

I already know that on meetings nights I'd learn far more sitting on the couch with a new book and Mr Frass. I suspect that this will be the final factor in convincing me to stay the smeg away from the kingdom hall, and stop trying to get reinstated already.

I'm really excited about finally knowing where I want to put my energy! And the chosen field: Economics! Well I'm hoping to focus on international aid eventually but for now I have to understand the basics of money.

Oh congratulation Sass! Well done! I am so impressed. Now I have you and Damselfly to admire.

I want to do correspondence studies in education but they don't offer it here.... I'd love to teach.

Congratulations. I did the same thing.

Between working, moving, and health problems it took me six years to complete my Bachelors Degree, but it was SOOOO worth it!

    Hey Jeff

Why is it too late for you to get an education? Mum got her second degree at 51. While working, huge vegie gardens, AND looking after dad.

She got her bachalors in Agriculture, at 28 while pregnant with my kid sister, us two older brats, working the farm (Calving time during her exams) and working part-time at the corner shop. Oh and looking after my dad.

Education is anytime in your life and all the time in your life.

If you want it, go get it.

    GOOD LUCK SASS enjoy it

Congratulations sass! Reading this kind of thread is inspiring. I need to get my butt in gear and get a degree, too, but there always seems to be too many other demands on my time. Then I read that someone else is doing it, and get all excited all over again....

    Good luck! You'll do great!

O Sass!! good for you. You will love it I promise Correspondence can be good or it can bite your ass! Set aside set times every day as study times and stick to them, you'll have it finished in no time.

I shall now focus all my mental images at Misspeaches to further encourage inspiration.

Enjoy the schooling. I honestly see it as one of the best things i'm doing right now (if not the best). Theres just some kind of feeling of accomplishment that i'm getting from it.
