My favorite stress management tool (besides being goofy with my kids) is singing in a barbershop quartet. Just 4 voices...ringing harmonies....I know its old fashioned and sappy but I like it.

Any other old..or young farts out there that sing barbershop....or other styles too?

How does music and being able to express yourself with it effect your life?

You are so lucky RW! In another thread I just posted that I attended a community choir last week. One performance was a barbershop quartet! Wow! Amazing! And it must be fun! Its not that common you know. But everybody enjoys it.
I sing, but have never joined a group. Must put that on my things to do list!!

I can't sing (court order), but I love to listen to Barbershop quartets. Do you have any mp3's of yourselves? CD's?

I was a Sweet Adeline for a few years. It was a lot of fun doing shows and going to competitions. It is very time consuming so I had to give it up when my mom got ill.

Are you part of a chorus, too? I think men's quartets are awesome.

I play the piano and sing with a group that goes to places like hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and to where tragedies have struck - we went to Columbine after the school shootings, to 9/11 remembrances - we usually do sing alongs, just to bring some happiness to others and help them away from their troubles.
Music brings people together in a happy way!

I was part of a BBShop chorus but really prefer the quartet.

We made a CD demo but it met with such high demand that we stuck with just the 5 copies LOL

We were very lucky back that back on St. Patrick's Day in 1999 we were invited to Killarney Ireland. Sang in several shows...(several more pubs) and even at St. Mary's for Sunday Services. It was amazing.

If you have a need to make your ears bleed I'll try to pull some mp3 files of the cd's and post a couple.

Here is a picture...I'm the devilishly handsome one on wheels....try to control yourselves ladies...once you've had it "to go" you'll never want to eat at home.

Very, very interesting rw. I'm always impressed when others engage in other hobbies and activities, people need examples and inspiration. You've got my two thumbs up!!!!!!

    You guys look nice!

I only sing for my own entertainment and haven't done so in a chorus since high school.

I used to have a good singing voice before my voice broke. I guess if we hadn't been Dubs, I might've been in a choir or something. But since then I've fronted (if you can call it that) a metal band, and performed screaming backing vocals in another metal/screamo band, but I've been bandless for about two years now. I've barely touched my guitar this month, and I feel guilty about that.

Please do! If you need a place to host them, let me know.
