Kingdom Ministry for October under: How Can We Help?

..."when donations are earmarked specifically for a certain disasters, it is necessary in some countries to use such funds only for the purpose specified by the donor and within a certain period of time, whether the needs of out brothers have been cared for locally or not. (Is this true and if so, isn't that the whole point of donating to natural disaster victims?)

"Consequently, it is recommended that donations for humanitarian and relief assistance be made to the worldwide work. This fund is used for relief efforts as well as for advancing the spiritual needs of the Christian brotherhood... It would be appreciated if such donations are made without restricitons as to where and how the funds may be used."

"Our directing donations primarily to the worldwide work allows for more funds to be available for use in connection with all features of the kingdom work rather than being held for future relief needs. This is in harmony with Eph 4:16 tha we work togethor to give what is needed : "for the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.'

The whole article smells fishy to me. What are they getting at?

They are saying IMHO....Just give me your money!

It means they want the money, but do not want to have to account for how they use it.

They want the money, plain and simple.

Under US law, if you donate $100 to go toward victims of Hurricane Katrina, they have to be able to prove that's what they did with it. Spending it on something else is essentially stealing. It may also become taxable income, if they aren't careful with it. The line about

whether the needs of out brothers have been cared for locally or not,

may really get them in trouble, if they aren't careful. It seems they don't want to give money to non-witnesses (big surprise) but that is exactly what charities are supposed to do.

I recently read (it might have been on this sight) that when the Borg goes in to help someone they require that they sign a document agreeing to turn over any and all insurance money they receive.

Anyone know if this is true-- if it is they're making $ with free labor ect.

Ohhh! I get it now! I had just surfed the net about the process of donating to non profit orgs.

I see now. If someone was to make a check out to "Katricana Victims" then it could only be used for that purpose.

You would think an article like that would get people thinking! But I guess not when someone is doing the thinking for you.

Hmmmm.... just the usual, "Placing the Watchtower and Awake magazines is by far the most benificial and comforting thing that anybody could ever get while in such an emergency situation. Good wholesome spiritual food far outweighs any temporary relief that fleeting things like food or shelter could ever provide."

As coffee_black stated, they just don't want you telling them what to do with the contribution. They'll decide. For example, if they need to send a brother to Princeton to get a degree in International Studies, or if they need money to settle a child abuse case, or if the auto lease program needs an infusion of funds, then these are the things which would take precedence over disaster relief, assisting impoverished brethren in Third World countries and kicking up the pay scale at Bethel.
