It has often been said that the JW organisation of today is far, far different to the organisation that CT Russell set up, both in beliefs and teachings as well as administration.

I've even heard it said that if CTR were alive today, he would be disfellowshipped for all manner of 'offences' as proscribed by the modern-day WTS!

So, if it were possible for you to ask CTR just one question, what would it be?

    Well? ..........................

    Here's mine:

    1. Were you telling the truth when you wrote in the Watchtower that you never consummated your marriage?

    OK, your turn

Is he embarrassed about the number of specific dates predicted to be the end by the religion he started?

Has the society turned out the way he expected? Does it make him happy or sad?

Given hindsight would he do it all again?

How would he deal with known paedophiles in his religion?

ICB, I think if you read up on the history of emerging religions at that time, you would find that the WTS was not that different. Many groups were expecting the return of Christ. Others were breaking away from or forming groups with new concepts, leaving behind the Protestant/Catholic groups. CTR did not stand out as unusual. In fact, he had a huge readership and speaking schedule. He was not interested in condemning other religions but rather finding those of the anointed still in those religions. Yes, while I don't agree with everything he taught, those days were very different from the WTS today.

My question: If he had lived beyond 1916 (and he was only 64), how would he have dealt with the fact that even 10 years later, that they had not been called to heaven.

There were several reform groups at that time:

religious reform, abolition of slavery, women's rights, temperance, educational reform, utopian communities, and treatment of the mentally ill

You do have a point there Blondie, I have read up on what some other groups believed, and it was quite bizarre. I guess it was quite a different world back then.

Mr Russell, if you could have seen into the future to the year 2005, and could see all the deviation from what you thought was 'God inspired' understanding of the Scriptures, would you have just folded up the printing facility? Or would have allowed such history to unravel all you thought was right at the time? Would you consider the 'Truth' today to be the 'Truth'?

Given that Joseph Rutherford hijacked his way into the presidency of the Bible Students in 1916, would you had given him the boot before you died?
