1st Thanksgiving ever (for me)

My wife's first in over a decade. WOW was that fun!

My uncle (by marriage) said grace. Lots of food, all her family around. I was a spec of lightly colored dust in a sea of brown skin.

Played football with the cousins. My old butt getting winded quickly, but I settled in okay after a while. Drank lemonade and sweet tea, and ate...and ate...and ate...and then when they offered cake, I ate it too.

My wife enjoyed herself around all her wordly relatives. YAY! All in all, a rousing success.

We don't do it over here in the UK but yer damn culture seems to spread like gangrene so give it a few more years!

Happy Thanksgiving AuldSoul. i hope you guys enjoyed yourself and will enjoy them together from now on. thanksgiving was last month in canada, unable to get together with my family (work related travel) but hopefully i will be around for christmas......telltruth

Good for you! Thanksgiving without guilt imposed on you by anyone is great!

My former spouse used to say that Thanksgiving was "patriotic" and so it was against his (Witchtower) religion.

I always said, "There wasn't even a country called the USA when the first Thanksgiving was observed! Are you insane. How can it be patriotic?" I got really tired of all the condemnations the Watchtower fanatics put on everything--even things that are not bad at all.

Feels great to get away from that twisted mentality, doesn't it?

Oh come on! You mean someone didn't give a big speech to remind everyone what the day is about and to give proper thanks? That's what sad about the witnesses. Many of them on this day have the same dinner, and do the exact same things as worldly people do on this day......but somehow they are exempt from acting like the rest and should be shunning such a day. Anyway, glad you and the Mrs. had a good time Gumby
