Decorating Tips for Christmas Trees

Not too long ago I was discussing Christmas trees and decorations.

I have always had a vision of what my tree should look like. Over the years I have slowly added to my collection of ornaments. I love trees that sparkle and shine. When going down the roads after a fresh snowfall I love the color of the lights as they shine through the snow. That is what I try to capture.

Each year I buy one special ornament that fits into my vision. I often get this after the holidays and buy something on sale - 60% off is hard to ignore.

I started with a small tree - very similar to the one that bikerchic posted above. Then graduated to a larger tree and now have this new one.

The older ornaments are being replaced with glass, mirrored, silver, and the new acrylics. They are no colored ornaments. But the lights are all colored. The ornaments pick up the light colors and reflect them. I have never used the silver tinsel. I had cats and they tend to try to eat it which can cause a very expensive trip to the vet. So my icicles are glass or clear plastics

Now I slowly replace the older ornaments for those that fit the vision. Last year the building I live in received quite a few ornaments that had been retired from the collection. Kinda nice to see them there.

I will be retiring a few more this year.

So here it is - this year's vision.

Lee your new "vision" tree is very pretty! I like the idea of no colored bulbs just colored lights to bring out the different colors.

see if you can guess what it's made from:

raw wool before it is combed and spun?

whipped egg whites and the eyes look like cherry halves

    No, or rather buzzzzzzzzz!

    Here's a hint:

You and I are past the age where we would need to use the item the mouse is made from.

    Might I add (I didn't see this....)

Candy Canes. They come in varying flavors/colors and makea great addition to a tree.

And heirlooms turned into ornaments by adding some pretty ribbon or hooks.

Beautiful Trees Lady Lee and Bikerchic!!!

I am honored by the placement of my humble mouse upon your tree, Bikerchic...

This year I made them with scarves and jingle bell. Also there were Hanukkah mice...

Yup! We added those to our tree along with small red ribbons, large silver ribbon wrapped around, and silver glass ornaments and red lights. Very victorian looking.

One thing I have wanted to do for a while was to buy some ornaments and write the names of family members on each ball. Last year I found some bells but they didn't turn out very well.

Yesterday I found some nice silver balls and some glitter glue. I'll let you know how it turns out.

    AngryKangaroo: Ooooh ribbons...sounds pretty!

Yesterday I was going through a book about clay with my daughter and came up with an idea...You can get that clay at the store that you bake in the oven. Can't think of the name of it right now....Anyhow...it comes in fab colors and if I'm not mistaken you could probably locate some simple molds at the same location and make some uber cool santa's and angels and other ornaments and decorations. If I have time this week I might attempt this with Juniper.
