Blondie, I hope I was the only one confused by your post. Are you Barbara Anderson? Or are you merely quoting from Barbara?

Karl Adams was my school conductor for a couple of years while I was at Bethel, in the Brooklyn Heights congregation.

He came alive onstage, but offstage always seemed sad and resigned. This fascinated me at the time.

One time I took an opportunity to sit next to him at lunch. I said, "So are you working on anything cool in the Writing Department?" To which he gave me a gentle but firm tongue lashing about how they never talk about anything before it is published. We basically sat in silence for the rest of the lunch.

That was the end of me trying to get to know Karl Adams.

Another memory of him was one time when Albert Schroeder (GB Member) gave the Instruction Talk at the Ministry School (yes it WAS a trip to be on the same school as GB members). He went off on the NWT and the NWT committee and how GREAT it was for about 30 minutes! He was so badly overtime and clueless that he was even overtime. It was noticed and you could tell everyone in the audience was uncomfortable about how Karl Adams was gonna deal with this blatant misuse of time in the Ministry School by a GB member.

Karl Adams just got up and pretended like nothing happened. Like nothing was wrong.

Typical reaction by the WT I guess ....

Karl Adams, one of the Gilead instructors, who has been serving at the world headquarters for close to 53 years, spoke on the thought-provoking theme "Where Will You Go From Here?"

Well he's certainly going to find out now.

At that time, Brother Covington stepped aside as a director to comply with what then seemed to be Jehovah’s will—that all directors and officers of the Pennsylvania corporation be anointed Christians. Lyman A. Swingle replaced Hayden C. Covington on the board of directors, and Frederick W. Franz was elected vice president.

    Blondie,

Is the above highlight a quote from the WT you sited or is it your own words?

Hayden Covington's letter of resignation is in the WT publications somewhere. I remember the words that he wrote, "that it seemed to be Jehovah's will" that the GB be members be of the anointed.

Does any one question the fact that he steps down and who takes his place as Vice President, why Freddy Franz.

Who do you think would do the Bible research and discover this new truth, why of course, celebrated WT scholar , Freddy Franz.

I knew Covington, I met him in Quebec City, and ran errands for the WT legal and Branch Servant , DO's etc billetted in their multi suite hotel, The Chateau-Frontenac. He gave me a bottle of whisky to show his appreciation for the errands I was doing. He was my hero at that time.

I don't have the facilities to find that letter. Do you think you can find it and post it?

Hayden Covington helped me get my 4D classification back in the late 50's or early 60's, not personally but through correspondence. Sure glad I didn't have to go to prison to avoid the draft.

    Ken P.

Actually I think it was between the Korean and Vietnam war that I avoided the draft by being classified as a minister.
