Back in 1989, I sold my car to a brother less than half price. It was a 88 Sentra worth 11,500$ and I sold it to a brother for $4,500. I did this because he was a friend, and also because he's the one that brought me into the Org. That was my way of thanking him.

    Gee, times have changed....

He was happy. I was new at the time in the JW's

Oh, yeah, he was the one who drove my aunt back home from the assembly.

I'd say that wasn't only nice but pretty daft of you, but I guess you were brainwashed so I'll say no more.

Kept them company while they were dying. The elders were afraid to.

Printed copies of the UN website regarding the WTBTS

Printed copies of the letter from the WTBTS to CO's regarding the UN deal.

Made cassette copies of my conversation with the WTBTS Service Department regarding their affiliation with the UN.

Mailed everything to several brothers and sisters that I considered very close friends.

"Adopted" a sweet old Ukrainian lady that had no family over here, even though I was encouraged to stay away because she had problems with 'demons'.... She'd lived through some pretty traumatic times, including having her own children wrenched away from her by Nazi's and it had left her rather 'eccentric'. One time she said she wished I was her son, and it made me cry for ages.

    Bull!

I used to do ironing for people in the congregation when I was a young teenager (ala slave labor, only since I got 10 cents a garment after awhile I started making some pretty decent money for a 13 year old. However, I have a strange phobia of ironing boards to this day strangely enough.) Since a lot of them were either elderly or pioneers and didn't have the time or the energy to do such things, my parents thought it was a nice way to help out and I got to make a little bit of 'spending' money out of it. However, I would have nowhere to go to spend the money that wasn't on the approved list so I ended up saving it up. :)

The first of my nice things leads to the next 2 things

    1. learned sign language
    2. went with a sister to the hospital after her husband was hit by a car and killed
    3. supported the same sister when her sister was dying of cancer at home. I was their interpreter and care-taker for the family when the time came to call the coroner. She and I held her hands as her sister took her last breaths. It was painful to go through but I'm still glad I helped despite my elder/husband saying I should stay home to take care of him
