Yes, getting excited! We're putting the tree up at the weekend - and we've already got some Christmas decorations up! Plus, we've received two Christmas cards already, one from Mulan and Dave and another from a neighbour across the street who also baked us a lovely Christmas cake complete with a tiny Robin on the top!

I LOVE this time of year. Hope it snows Christmas day - that'd be special (it did last year!).

Pressies, food, friendly association - Christmas is GREAT for all these things! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont like it period. It is to commercialised and has NOTHING to do with Jesus. It is actually a dishonoring Holiday. The whole thing is based on lies and untruths.

Christmas is about eating, drinking, having a great time and buying lots of gifts for people and getting a few back in return...Defd your response is about as text book as it gets...no disrespect but I wish I could have a £ for every witness that says that...I would be a millionare 6 times over lol.

Something tells me that I'm not the only one who cringed at defd's post about Christmas being a dishonouring holiday based on untruths and all of that. I swear, there's a book out there somewhere that every JW has memorized to counter any and all Christian events, especially Christmas, because they all seem to say the same thing.

Anyway, am I excited about Christmas?? Damn straight!! I've been listening to Christmas music for a month now, I love my Bing Crosby carols and all of the fun songs that I grew up with, like the Muppets' "12 Days of Christmas" and the Chipmunks' "Christmas Song", they're all great and they make me feel so festive!! I've been working on my Christmas shopping since the beginning of October, too, so I've been feeling rather festive for a while now!!

My favourite parts of Christmas are the decorations - I absolutely love the lights and the trees and the colours and all of that - and the fact that everyone makes an effort to get together and just have fun and enjoy each other's company. I'm a university student, so Christmas is one of the few times of the year that I can see all of my friends and family and just enjoy being with them.

And I'm huge on gift-giving, I love it!! I don't like Christmas because I receive gifts, I love it because I get to give everyone else gifts!! There's nothing more magical and satisfying than the look of surprise and appreciation on a loved one's face when you give them a present that they just love!!

Of course, my JW boyfriend is doing his best to suck the joy out of my holiday season, but too bad, he's failing miserably. Nothing will ever make me hate Christmas, NOTHING!! Not to mention the fact that when I justified my celebrating Christmas to him, complete with supporting Bible verses and references to the WTS countering all of his arguments, he just conveniently ignored everything that I said because it ran contrary to everything he's ever been taught.

And Legolas, relax, snow is coming!! Here on the east coast, we got about 6 inches of it yesterday and it's still snowing!! It's a little late, but better late than never.

No snow in PEI yet, Legolas?? OK, here's the deal - one of my roommates is from PEI and she's going home for the holidays next week. If you don't have any snow over there by then, I'll be sure to send some to PEI with my roommate!!

Hey, Christmas just isn't Christmas without the snow!!

Hehehe, let me step out on a limb and say that most adult men are really just a 10-year-old boy in a grown man's body. Snow just brings that inner child to the surface, not that he's ever lurking very far from sight anyway.

Of course, I can't say much - I'm a 20-year-old girl and I behave just like a 10-year-old when it snows, too. It's just something about the concept of white, fluffy stuff falling from the sky and all of the fun that it entails - sledding, making snowmen and snow-angels, throwing snowballs at my brother, having school closed for a snow-day, everything. In my mind, snow means good things!!

On another note, while there's always lots of snow here for Christmas where I attend university, there hasn't been any snow in my hometown for Christmas for at least three years, so I don't get completely white Christmases all the time, either. I get snow here for part of December, then I go home for about three weeks around Christmas and there's no snow. It's a real downer - I leave here on the bus in the morning and there's lots of snow, and when I finally get home 10 hours later, there's no sign of a snowflake anywhere.

    Do you live in Newfoundland?

There was another poster here a couple of months ago from there, I will try and remember who he was.

I have a doctors appointment for 3:00 so I have to go for awhile, catch you guys later!

I do live in Newfoundland, but I attend university on the west coast and my family lives on the Avalon peninsula, about 100km away from St. John's, and believe it or not, there's a huge difference in climate between the two places. Here, it's cold and snowy, and last week in St. John's, it was sunny and warm enough to wear shorts!! My mother tells me it's been raining a lot at home, but here, we have a nice thick layer of snow now. :)

In December, I'll take snow over hot weather any day!!
