I don't think the writers are complete idiots. It's quite simple, really. The WT is written by committee. A committee produces nothing better than the weakest member.

They also write real slow so that the brotherhood remains unitedly in their understanding.

Very good point. There can be little or no literary excellence when articles are passed through a committee machine. The only things left are recycled statements sprinkled with the very occasional change in doctrine. There is little said of true importance or weight, but at least control over what is written is maintained. It reminds me of a good novel that can be torn to shreds once a studio's 100 different screenwriters have their go at it.

What a fitting quote. Do you think someone in NY is trying to reveal something about themselves?

    1. They are so honestly clueless that they can publish stuff like this with a straight face.

    2. They are so completely dishonest that they publish it with a brazen smirk, fighting back laughter at the fact that JW's are so clueless about the history of their own organization that they can read an article like that and never make the screamingly obvious correlation.

I suggest a third option: They believe their own claims to be the voice of God, and whatever comes into the heads of the writers, AND approved by committee, goes into print.

After all, when it comes off the 5th floor, it IS the truth.

    Metatron,

I am glad that you chose this term rather than saying they are "perfect" idiots. In this case, they aren't quite perfect but are "complete" in the biblical sense, LOL!

    always love your posts,

    hugs,

Depends a bit on the theme of the article and the context of those words. Is the article just about scientific, technological advancements? Or is it a discussion about predictions in general, even of a religious nature. If the latter then not so much complete idiots as totally deluded hypocrites.

I have always noticed how when the WTS criticizes others it convienently forgets its own record. The long standing attack on the clergy verses the laity is one example. For fun read those articles and substitute GB for clergy and Great Crowd for laity and they make perfect sense.

    LOL This is hilarious.

Of course they are idiots. We don't even know their names. "By Awake! Correspondent in Timbuktu" and such,

    1. They are so honestly clueless that they can publish stuff like this with a straight face.
I don't think it's cluelessness, they are so arrogant and haughty--that's what makes them idiots.

The "one journalist" who wrote this, happens to have a name. (Unlike the Awake! plagarists)

    His name is Lev Grossman.
