I don't know which people have gone overboard criticizing Barb. I am saying that Simon doesn't like disrespect being shown to Barb.

The media can innoculate the public against JWs if this issue sees the inside of a courtroom. The religion may very well be about to experience the worst PR nightmare it could imagine. Actually, its imagination probably isn't even good enough to have come up with this one.

You didn't know her, her family, her religion, and likely had never considered more carefully than passing comment the issue of right to die and who it is that gets to make those decisions.

This may become watercooler talk, and if that happens everyone will have to find out what the basis of the hooplah is. Where will they go for information about Jehovah's Witnesses? To the organization being sued or to the Internet.

We may be on the verge of being a fad, folks. And the world is primed and ready for a new kind of scandal. A large percentage of the population ENJOYS getting heated up about social issues, bloggers make their mark on history by doing that, talk show circuit beckons...this thing could easily become the end for the Organization from the lack of new converts. It will no longer be seen as harmless but annoying door knockers. It will be seen as potentially deadly baby-killers.

Something to think about: Did Schiavo's parents or husband win? Did you agree or disagree with the verdict? Why? If you can answer those questions you have just proven to yourself why this news was huge. It doesn't matter whether it is won or lost in court. It is huge.

Exactly. People can be disappointed if they want but there is no need to be insulting to her. She is a lovely lady and does NOT deserve that. If it wasn't for her then many other big things (that other people took credit for) would simply not have happened.
