What do you think it is reffering to?
Is it reffering to the way Christ feels about his bride as we were taught? Or do you think it is describing how a man and woman in a relationship should feel about each other? I mean it has to be in the bible for a reason. But what reason?

Just drop the "should"...
One possibility is that the text partly reflects an ancient hierogamical liturgy, originally celebrating the union of a god and a goddess (e.g. Yhwh / Asherah, Tammuz / Ishtar, Baal / Anat) in a fertility cult.
The traditional ascription to Solomon is probably the only reason why this text (which most Bible scholars date between the 5th and 3rd century BC) made its way into the Jewish canon.
Great points....also have to admit that as a teenager, I used to sneak up to that particular book and read parts of it during meeting. lol

First, apart from the suscription (1:1) Solomon is a pretty secondary character in the book (1:5; 3:7,9,11; 8:11f) and nothing really indicates he is part of the plot.
Second, the "Song of Solomon" linguistically reflects a late form of Biblical Hebrew, with many Aramaic, Persian and Greek loanwords -- which is only possible at least 5 centuries after the period usually ascribed to Solomon.
The ONLY reason the Song of Solomon was included in the Biblical canon is because it is attributed to Solomon!
It is one of the least referenced books of the Bible.

Me too, it was kinda like the softcore porn of dubdom. Usually waaaaaay more interesting than what was actually being discussed.
