It depends on how you view paganism. We have now put up lights for the past 4 years after getting out of the Borg we were in for 50 years. We see it is celebrating the LIGHT OF THE WORLD Jesus Christ, and we love the lights in our dark Norhern Hemisphere Winter. We are not bothered what Pagan connecions are claimed to be involved, but we DO NOT WORSHIP Pagan gods at that time or at any time, and thats what it is all about about, WORSHIP of false gods. We worship the God who we cannot see, the Lord of the Bible.
Paul said in Colossians 2:16 That we should not judge each oter as the celebration of a FULL MOON or a FESTIVAL or a SABBATH. Paul was saying that a Christain could celebrate those things if his conscience allowed him too. FULL MOONS are celebrated by Pagans, but were also celebrated by the Jews.

There's another holiday they cheat on. Fireworks! A display of war the U.S. fought and a rememberance of that day ..........and the witnesses love to watch it. How is watching porn any different since war and immorality are both appauling to Jehovah?

I'm sure you know of the pagan origins of christmas lights. As well, jesus is supposed to be the spiritual light of the world. Using earth based material to represent the spiritual has shades of idolatry.

Many pagans don't worship anything. I don't.
We worship the God who we cannot see, the Lord of the Bible.
Worship is such an archaic animal reaction to the unknown. Imo, it puts you on the same level as worshippers of any other religions. It is totally unnecesary. Get up, stand on your own feet. You don't see james thomas worshipping anything, do you?

Perhaps deep down they know that Xmas is not really a pagan celebration but a Christian one. The origin is immaterial it's the objective that really matters. Back in those days the pagans didn't have electric lights anyway.

Heh, my JW boyfriend loves the 4th of July fireworks, too, he watches them from his apartment every year (he has a great view from his living room window). Of course, he wouldn't be caught dead acknowledging the celebration, but he'll still enjoy the visual aspects. He even sent me some pictures of the fireworks. And he didn't grumble when I sent him pictures of fireworks from Canada Day and a civic holiday in my town.
I think that he just enjoys the festivities without actually having to do anything - why spend money and time celebrating something when you can just sit idly by, claim to be a JW who doesn't believe in such events because they're heathen, sit on your high horse looking down on anyone who actually celebrates and still be able to enjoy all of the visual celebrations?? Hey, it takes all of the hassle out of the holidays when someone else is doing all of the work, right??
But of course, I'm evil because I have a Christmas tree and some lights up outside.

Satanus, You sound a very nice person to me. Lost but very nice. My wife and I have studies Chinese Medicine, we know about Yin & Yang and we also know all about the Magnetic Energies of this Earth called Shumann Waves. Although we were JWs we studied Acupuncture and other Energetic Therapies such as Shiatsu and AcuMagnetic Therapy. My wife still practices Electro-Acupuncture, even though a number of Christians think its from the Devil. We do not, as the Human Body has energy channels running right through it.
When we got out of the Borg, we went to a forest every Sunday and prayed to the Universal Consciousness and Yahweh and Yeshua. We asked him if there was good in ALL religions. We started hugging tree's and could feel the Yin or Yang energy going through them. All nature is at one with the Universal Creator.
We also know about different dimensions. Now that we know the real Yeshua, he has taught us that so much about him and his Father. We are so puny that we cannot understand the various dimensions that God has created, and that we are living out of sinc with the PERFECT dimension.
Everything is possible with God, and its not just superstition. You are CRYING inside, because you do not know who the Real God is. We have seen miracles happen, since being Born Again Christians, and we know that Yeshua is alive and LOVING his people.
By the way Satanus, IDOLATORY is WORSHIP OF AN INANIMATE OBJECT. We do not bow down to or give LIGHTS any credence any more than the Israelites gave too the 7 Lampstands.
Jesus spoke about hiding lights under baskets, he also spoke about the 10 virgins having oil for their lamps. So get real, and stop trying to button us down to a guilt trip. WE LEFT ALL OF THAT CRAP WHEN WE LEFT THE BORG.
I am not going to debate with you about Witchcraft or Wicca etc, as they are just the same as Freemasonry, DEMONIC and ensnare people into false dogma rules and rituals. We are now FREE MEN AND WOMEN in JESUS CHRIST.
