Hmm... interesting, but one should wait for the debate among archaeologists.
Here is one sceptical reaction:

If it turns out to be true then that will be another embarassment for bible critics who for a long time have been claiming that king David was a totally mythical figure.

Well, I'm a Bible critic, but I don't see this as an embarassment. I fully concede that Israel existed, and that it had kings. The kings had names, and one of them could have been Dave. Many of the stories regarding Dave are obviously mythical. Many of them are mundane and could very well have happened to a king named Dave. Finding a palace fits consistantly with my view of the Bible.

all additions to our collective body of knowledge should be welcomed. Needs a paper which then should be peer-reviewed before we get too excited

Remember too that these kind of discoveries are used more to promote political agendas instead of Bible discussion.

Fascinating read! I actually plan on taking a course next year on Archaeology and the Bible.......I find the subject very interesting.

Given the nature of your source, I see very little reason to get excited. I seem to recall a lot of fuss being kicked up over that ossuary that supposedly belonged to Jesus' brother, only to be quietly dropped when it was revealed that the artifact had been cleverly forged. Even if this is the palace that King David lived in, such a find would hardly constitute a significant rebuttal to the very real problems with the "history" described in the Bible.
