My source is the 2006 Yearbook!

The "missing congregations" in Japan are seen in comparing the numbers published in the 1999 Yearbook with the 2006 Yearbook.

That's the beauty of this, it's all gleaned from the Society's own Yearbooks, so that you can point out this stuff to 'loyal' Witnesses.

Yes, metatron, is right that all those statistics on are the WTS report every year, by country and the totals at the end. All you have to do is compare last year's numbers to this year to see the decrease in congregations, pioneers, attendees at the memorial, etc.

I think that info is posted on here and eventually at the www.jw-media.org site.

    Stephanus:

How can you spin this? Negative growth can be spun as a "great falling away"; positive growth can be spun as "the word going forth". But sitting still while the engine is idling?

Easy. It's like the Ark, when Noah and his family were already on board but before Jehovah had shut the door. There's still opportunity for people to come on board, or for people to leave if they get tired of waiting, but for the most part they're finished, just waiting for that door to shut. Any day now.....

The 1914 claim was always idiotic. Tip to anyone forming an apocalyptic cult, never ever give any kind of firm dates. In the JW case, of course, all of this was bolstered by the bizarre numerology and Bible code crapola. I still feel very sad that smart people like my dad are still involved, because it's so very clearly ad hoc nonsense. Anyone who takes some ancient mythological writings and starts counting numbers is either delusional or sees an opportunity for wealth and power.
