I am a living example that the following are dangerous and satanic cults:Worldwide Church of God (leader Herbert Armstrong) - My parents jerked me out of a Christian church and joined this one when I was 5.
Jehovah's Witnesses (aka Watchtower Bible and Tract Society) (leader Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses) - I joined this one after leaving the WWCoG.

James I am not aware of that thread but I'll search for it. Scientologists are in fact nastier and far more wayward than the JWs, they are known to use very aggressive tactics against their critics but a scientologist has put up a site similar to ex JW sites. I can't understand how Tom Cruise got involved with them.
A guy joined another ex-JW board a few months ago. He'd never been a JW, but he was involved in a group called "two by two"'s or "the no-name church". It sounds a little silly, and they aren't really organized, but they still manage to wield a scary amount of control over their followers. I didn't see it listed on Steve's site, but there's very few left. (Or so I'm told)

Some of the research that I have been doing on cults and high control groups, suggests that just about anything can take on those characteristics.

I read Out of the Cults into the Church when I was first leaving. It talked more about mormons, moonies and hare krishnas. Same thought control.
