I don't know, this is the first I've heard of it. I wish someone would provide more details about the letter. At least some verification that it was a wide-spread thing and is posted on information boards at the halls.

Right me too. I've been talking for some time today with the person who told me and she seems very sincere. Came to the chat room because the letter rocker her world a bit. I have glanced over the official site looking for something but nothing so far.
I'm lost.
The connection is that if this letter can be verified, it is just some recylced light again, but this time looks like a disclaimer letter. A "cover our asses" letter.Was a new letter posted at KHs? What does it have to do with the 1979 Watchtower?

I'm sure the active JWs that still go to the KH will post if anything like that is announced in the KH. The WTS has been disavowing its mistakes as not being infallible or inspired for years, because they have made some outrageous claims. That quote from 1979 occurred during a period when the WTS was seeing yearly decreases of 1 and 2 percent due to the fallout from 1975.
Basically, the WTS mantra is "Even when we are wrong, you are wrong not to obey us. God will correct us when it is appropriate."
It reminds me of reading that some members during WW1 thought the WTS was wrong in its allowing members to join the arm, put on a uniform, carry a gun, but when they were in battle to fire in the air. The dissenters were kicked out. The WTS said they should have been patient and let God correct the matter.

Nothing of the sort has been posted or even read at the Southwestern Ontario congregation I'm officially assigned to....but the BOE in that particular congregation are always behind when sharing letters etc.
If no one else can confirm this and I eventually hear about it, I'll let you all know.

I have not heard of a letter read like that in the last few weeks. As a fader something like that would have been mentioned to me.
What could possibly posess the society to write a letter that discusses the FDS not being inspired? They've said that many many times in the literature already. Why would they write a new letter for that?
The reexaminer put up the 1/3/06 Blood letter but that hasn't been read to the congo's. yet. It won't be read until the week of January 30, 2006.

The book 'Captives of a Concept' makes the excellent point that there is no such thing as an uninspired prophet. The Society has said on a number of occasions that it has acted as a modern day prophet, yet it claims it was never inspired! Go figure. They can't have it both ways LOL.
